kennyp52,

The BBI is an "index" and not the basket price of Jubilees prill split, because Jubilee never divulges this information.

The prill split can only ever be a historic value, anyway.

I use the Kitko "BID" figure not the higher "ASK"

Why the "SPREAD" on Rhodium is so large, currently $3,000, you'll have to investigate.

Nevertheless, by using the regular figures in a set formula the BBI accurately follows the "trend" on which way the value of a proxy basket is moving.

And that is what the BBI was designed to do, and it does it well.

I have used the BBI to forecast earnings on many occasions on this board, which have proven not to be wide of the mark, which is testament to its usefulness.

9th May, 9.99 a ticket. I just wish we could get a bit more mainstream coverage rather than the likes of shareprophets. Thanks anyway Robers.

The latest C19 data (30th April checked this morning)discloses 3471 active cases and 297 new cases.

Check graphs 2 & 3 (active & new cases) here

A 21 day lockdown was announced on 23/3 to start on 26/3 and extended by 14 days to 30/4.

on 23/3 there were 398 active cases and 273 new cases this was enough to initiate the lockdown.

Today there are 3471 active cases and 297 new cases (354 new cases the previous day).

Look at graphs 2&3 compare the data with the timing on the lockdown and 14 day extension look at the data to date. Looks like the initial 2 weeks of the lockdown were effective and thereafter the new/active cases began to climb and continue to do so.

You could reason that without the lockdown the figures might be much worse, however it seems to me that a further lockdown could be justified on the back of the latest data (even if that slowed the SA economy further)

Good Morning Avatar333, please note that the BBI recorded on 30/4/2020 is a bit lower than it should be - owing to the bargain price of gold used in the estimate. A correction would give something above 1500 US Dollars. If the headers could be corrected by those good folk who can, this would be appreciated.

Avatar333 - could you please double check the maths in future if you can spare the time?

Tx

Should now see a gap up to 4p, probably not tomorrow but maybe by end of next week.

If it wasn’t for Covid we’d have been north of 10p by now. That’ll come soon enough.

Bullster .. mind me asking where you get your Rhodium price from ? Metals Daily $7750 ; Moneymetals $6900 then Kitco has it only $3900 ???

Nicely past 3p now . Will it move on from here is the question . Palladium up another 2% at 9pm ... $1980 . Be good to see that returning to $2400+ . Motor manufacturing reportedly winding back into motion so the old catalytic converters might help rhodium also . Good luck all . Be a lot happier when this is back over 4p.

By the way ... COVID19 in SA is currently under control with only just over 3,174 active cases and 103 deaths . Death per million population 2 . Unless I am missing something and the virus is about to break out I don’t see the problem ?

I think SA's figures are updated around 10.30pm for example today's (30th) figure will be updated tonight, I usually check mornings so 1st May for 30th April figures.

That's where we might be differing. :-)

Deme apparently sold less than that weeks ago.. warned everyone about buying at 2.60 cause things were going to get worse and has now bought even more than he apparently sold and at a much higher price than his doomsday predictions. He loves to pay to much, he always buys at share price highs, so he can call it a dog none stop. Not sure he can afford to be here to be honest as it really gets to him, he should perhaps consider some diversification.

sleveen,

I just had a look at the chart for Active Cases and it clearly shows the same figures I posted, if you move mouse pointer over the peaks etc. I posted the GMT time that was shown on the days I checked. I'm not sure what time they update each day or whether the update times change.

I note the chart shows 3,230 active cases on the 27th note this is same figure that was shown on 28th @18:26 so after 18:26 GMT they must have updated as shows a drop! to 2,830. Then yesterday shows active cases increased to what I said was showing today @08:07 GMT of 3,174 active cases, which as I pointed out even with the increase of new cases it's still lower than the 27th (or 28th when I saw listed at 18:26 GMT) total of 3,230.

It will be interesting to see if the total active cases when updated later today, goes above the highest point of the 27th (3,230) or whether it will stabilise and level off before going down.

I'm amazed at such low numbers, for example a total of 90 cases per million pop compared with 5,067 for Spain, 3,217 USA, 2,434 UK etc. I was expecting much higher fiqures, so the lockdown there must have helped a lot. Just hope the total number of cases don't increase to more than 10,000 cases (I don't mean per m pop). So far it looks like their immune systems are stronger than what scientists thought. So perhaps their Vit D levels combined with Vit C must be good which helps the immune system.

Unplanned interruptions likely to be regular feature – Implats

Unplanned interruptions are likely to be a regular feature of the remaining months of the 2020 financial year, Implats CEO Nico Muller said on Thursday, when his platinum group metals mining and refining company presented production results for the three months to March 31.

The impact of the coronavirus would be a feature for some time and operating in a ‘business as usual’ environment would not be possible until effective prevention and treatment measures became readily available, Muller said in a release to Mining Weekly.

In the third quarter of the company's financial year, group tonnes milled, excluding joint venture operations, improved by 18% to 5.36-million tonnes, compared with 4.53-million tonnes in the prior comparable period.

An improved mining performance at Marula and Zimplats in Zimbabwe compensated for lower volumes from Impala Rustenburg, with absolute volume gains driven by the inclusion of Impala Canada and its contribution of 865 000 t

Reported mill grade declined by 4% to 3.64 g/t six element (6E), benefitting from a strong performance at Marula but impacted by the inclusion of lower-grade volumes from Impala Canada.

Mine-to-market 6E concentrate production was stable on a like-for-like basis with stronger volumes from Marula and Zimplats offsetting weaker production from Impala Rustenburg and Two Rivers. Together with production from the recently acquired Impala Canada operation, concentrate volumes increased by 8% to 667 000 oz from the prior comparable period
