Chestnuts - my sympathy.

Your points about trying to keep in good shape make a lot of sense.

The New Yorker have published a long article about the COVID year, tracking the progression of the disease, what the medics have been doing and the policy makers too.

I was shocked by some of the material, but it puts a great deal in perspective:

Covid could be an old virus which as come back after all 500 yrs ago man would have just brushed it off, because we never lived past 50 and were probably fitter. Its only a problem because as a country we encourage people to be overweight by giving medicine out to relieve the symptoms like diabetes . maybe we should hold the medicine back and tell people they can cure themselves by dieting.

Thanks, her husband is very poorly , lets hope he survives, the pair of them so unfit scared to go out, the government are so concentrating on trying to contain it, they should be more direct , i would be very direct get fit and live with covid or be unfit and die with covid.

Spot LNG hits $24 MMBTU - Equivalent to $151 Brent !

Spot LNG pricing in SE Asia hit an all-time record today reaching a stratospheric $24 MMBtu (MMcf), jumping over 10 fold since hitting a record low during the Covid peak in April.

Japan's Jera bought a cargo on 6 January for delivery either in the second-half January or first-half February at $24 MMBtu,

Further gains are expected in the near term. Some traders suggest that first-half February pricing could easily test the $30 MMBtu level, especially as Japan's power prices have soared on stronger-than-expected electricity demand for heating purposes because of colder-than-expected weather. Wholesale electricity prices in Japan hit an all-time high of ¥99.9/kWh on 7 January, more than seven times the average price of ¥13.93/kWh in December.

A 'perfect storm' of strong consumer demand, lower-than-expected temperatures across northeast Asia and a severe shortage of prompt LNG supplies and spot tanker availability has combined to send northeast Asian spot LNG prices to record levels, just nine months after hitting record lows.

I wonder how much diet and obesity will correlate against various nations once this sun besides. The Western world relies on medicine to keep alive rather than healthy eating and lifestyles.
