That's the trouble with remoaners..they believe the scaremongering hype when the MSM and remain politicians screech that leaving without a deal is falling off a cliff, and that ALL trade will suddenly stop...Well it won't..And the remainers know it won't, but it fulfils their sycophantic supporting eu agenda.

Why is it assumed that if/when we leave the EU all trade with them will cease - life and trade will go on. Gaining access to other Markets can only be a plus.

Max - are you suggesting that you ignore your biggest trading partner and a market place around the same size as the USA?

If you look at the growth tables of the various markets they are relatively flat in growth percentages. Emerging markets will have higher growth rates (per se) depending upon their base numbers.

Even you (sorry) must realise that a win/lose is not beneficial to any party. Don't get caught up with the loons. Merry Christmas again.

Hello Alp, here's a little something for you to ignore (inconvenient facts)

Can any of you remainers spot the flaw in the trade war scenario?

If we can relook at the what is happening in the global markets.

Further to Aleman's data which is alarming.

The DOW has fallen into bear market terrority.

Mr Trump shutting the government over his Mexico Wall.
Trump losing all grown up advisors
Brexit
Trade wars
Oil in oversupply
All attributing and signalling growth as stalled.

It is not looking good at all...The downturn cycle has started, just how quickly will it accelerate?

It may well be the case that Martin Lewis didn't get the result he wanted/expected and buried it.

It is a 'scam'. The pity is that the 'half-wits, as you say, believe it.

The same people who no doubt put out stockings for Santa.

………;……̷0;……R30;…which reminds me that we have not seen the likes of Max for sometime. You make me smile so Merry Christmas anyway!

jasun burn,

That does not appear on Martin Lewis' FB page and appears to be a photoshopped fake, widely disseminated by credulous half-wits.

Martin Lewis did do a similar poll on his Twitter page which gave a 59% to 41% majority in favour of staying in the EU - details above.

Great - keep posting this No Deal 'scam'. It may help push the domestic market and GBP even lower - more gains to be had.

So keep going and push harder.

JerryCo wakes up:

Guardian: "And he struck a distinctly Eurosceptic note by again highlighting Labour’s concerns about the state aid rules that form part of the architecture of the single market.

“I think the state aid rules do need to be looked at again, because quite clearly, if you want to regenerate an economy, as we would want to do in government, then I don’t want to be told by somebody else that we can’t use state aid in order to be able to develop industry in this country,” he said."

posthumous thanks to everyone who was going to answer my earlier question about Benjamin Graham but was hit by a meteorite before they clicked on "send". I bought the 1940 edition.

PD2, Tusk reassured the Irish months ago that in the event of no deal there would be no hard border.

7K - interesting.

The Irish do need to tell their EU partners that.

Within the proposed transitional agreement is a Committee devoted to long term issues between UK and EU, which is where I would assume problems would be referred and resolved and could easily be extended to cover the workings of a future FTA.

So, yes, why not dump the backstop and get on with things.

M. Barnier's reputation is gradually being shredded - he failed to deliver for his bosses. His job was to negotiate and come to a successful conclusion, not a balancing act where EU industry and commerce doesn't know whether its coming or going.

Lidl and Aldi must be going crazy as the uncertainty about importing products from their EU producers to supply their extensive UK chains of supermarkets.

For them, the break in the VAT chain is going to hurt. Food zero rated in UK, but not in most of the EU, so they have been recouping large sums from their UK business activities. With the chain broken, VAT will become payable to the UK treasury once the importer sells to their customer.
This will apply generally and will generate billions for Mr. Hammond's Finance Ministry as the clawback of earlier VAT levied in the EU no longer applies.

This probably means higher prices passed on to the consumer as import prices from the EU will be increased to cover the gap, but for the supermarket chains with their intense competition on price and low margins it may be a serious problem.

I suspect that VAT margin is the main source of profit for the German supermarkets in the UK (edit my mistake). German VAT on food is 7%.

Hahahaha....How convenient and hypocritical....Its s bit rich coming from remoaners, when they claim an article is made up..when these very same individuals have been complicite, and went along with and used ALL the scaremongering, shennangins, outright lies and blatant deception that was carried out before the referendum, and right up to the present time, by the remainer establishment and the media .....

I don't condone ANY made up false news or anything that is untrue...but 'kettle calling pot black' comes to mind..

>>Looks like a scam>>

I'm afraid it does. If you Google "today's quick poll: if we ignore PM's Brexit deal" - the words that appear in what purports to be a Michael Lewis FB post on the er, Liberty Militia site - the only hits are for nutjob sites.

Arron Banks involved in a scam? Difficult to believe.
