24/10/2022 14:44 | I realise that JPM are a U.S. company. However, JRS is a UK Public Limited company that happens to employ JPM as the asset manager. JPM don't own JRS (well, JPAM own 1.45% but that's hardly a controlling share). In the limit JRS could replace JPM as asset manager? But I'm not sure that's relevant because aside from the 1.45% JPM are not the beneficial owners of JRS. So I'm not asking if JPM can relocate, but asking if JRS could relocate? I've not read the small print in all the new rules but my understanding is JRS cannot receive dividends / funds from Russia because it is domiciled in the UK which has nothing to do with JPM? | squeaky19
24/10/2022 13:39 | s19 - JP Morgan is basically a U.S. company and therefore doesn't really matter where JRS themselves are located. Smithie6 - As of today, at the current exchange rate of GBP/RUB 70, so far JRS has received circa 41.7p per share in dividends into their frozen Russian bank account. At current exchange rates - Depending on what Lukoil does with its dividend, could add as much as 10.7p per share. As dividends paid to JRS are in their frozen bank account in Russia, none of this money is included in the NAV. | loganair
24/10/2022 12:16 | did JRS get a big divi last week from Gazprom ? (but the divi money frozen in Russia ?) if so, is it not included in the NAV ? | smithie6

24/10/2022 09:31 | The MOEX Russia index was nearly 2% higher at 2,080 on Monday, extending the 5% jump last week to a one-month high amid robust demand for blue-chip shares despite the worsening macroeconomic backdrop. Lukoil shares continued to outperform, soaring more than 20% in the last four weeks as investors await a possible announcement of dividend payments. Others shares in the energy sector were also in the green, extending the recent rally as investors re-invest Gazprom’s record-setting dividend pay out from last week. Still, the outlook for energy producers remains clouded as the EU’s oil embargo and potential price cap is set to compound the depletion in energy revenues for Moscow. Consequently, Russia will have to use part of its rainy-day fund to make up for its coming deficit for the first time ever. | loganair
23/10/2022 19:34 | Putin hasn't stolen anything off anybody. If a small retail investor hasn't yet moved their ADR's they are still the beneficial owner of the underlying shares of the said ADRs. Once every thing calms down after the West has thrown the Ukraine under the bus, JRS will then start to give their Russian holdings a value. | loganair

23/10/2022 18:33 | EU have gone after oligarchs but Putin has stolen ADRs off small investors who cannot move ADRs to Russia due to cost as this is not economic for holdings worth less than £30,000. Even if you do transfer into Russian listed shares. Most investors still cannot get the money out of Russia. Well over £100 billion invested in Russian ADRs has been lost. Even JRS still value Russian holdings at zero. | robizm
23/10/2022 16:19 | loganair There has been talk about the EU stealing Russian assets and using the money to help Ukraine. The EU seem to be talking about stealing the assets of the Russian state or Russian companies. I have not seen any talk of the EU stealing the EU listed shares of ordinary Russian investors. This would surely be against EU law and International law? Do you think there is any possibility that the EU could steal the EU listed shares of ordinary Russian investors? And do you think there is any possibility that Russia could steal the Russian shares that are held by foreign companies such as JRS? I do not see any possibility of Russia stealing the shares that are owned by foreign companies such as JRS. I would not be surprised though at anything that is done by the EU. | popit

21/10/2022 17:56 | The MOEX Russia Index closed 0.9% higher at 2,044 on Friday, gaining nearly 5% on the week despite the worsening macroeconomic backdrop and geopolitical developments during the period. Investors continue to assess how upcoming retaliatory measures could impact Russia, with the EU’s oil embargo set to start December, in addition to the renewed potential of price caps on energy. Individual share movements were dominated by dividend announcements, with Lukoil adding 7.7% on the week as investors await potential news of dividends to be approved by the giant’s board. Note - a Lukoil dividend could be worth as much as 10p per JRS share. | loganair

20/10/2022 19:47 | ---galeforce120 Oct '22 - 07:55 - 4106 of 4107 0 4 1 The unceasing 'Russians eat babies for breakfast" propaganda, which the UK has been bombarded with for the last 9 months, has had some unfortunate consequences. You see them in some of the comments here about 'Russian filth' and 'Russian scum'.--- Remind me again who invaded who? It's nothing to do with propaganda. Any person capable of rational thought knows exactly who the evil doers are but I'm sure you can twist it round otherwise. Wasn't it that cretin Lavroll who claimed Ukraine were attacking Russia lol | brwo349
20/10/2022 19:46 | The MOEX Russia index closed 2.4% higher at 2,025 on Thursday, as investors continued to monitor worsening geopolitical tension, further underscoring the disconnect between Russia’s macroeconomic backdrop and equity market movements. In latest developments, the Russian cabinet allocated RUB 1 trillion from its National Wealth Fund to cover the deficit set for this year, a move that has never been done before, as energy revenues for Moscow fall. On the corporate front, oil shares booked strong gains despite the grim outlook for the sector, as the EU is set to halt seaborne oil imports and prohibit tankers from shipping oil to customers in Asia in December. Lukoil shares jumped over 4%. | loganair
20/10/2022 19:24 | Russian thieves The shocking scale of theft in the Russian army Theft on an industrial scale – why the Russian army’s supply shortages are often self-inflicted. 19/10/2022 15:19 | The West has done a really stupid and foolhardy thing here. Instead of having Russia on their side against China, 2000 - 2008 Putin asked to join both the EU and NATO, the West has push Russia into an alliance with China in the same way the West in now pushing Saudi Arabia closer and closer to Russia and China. While the West is concentrating and looking at what Russia are doing in the Ukraine, they are not looking at and concentrating on what is really important here, what China is getting up to. | loganair
