Yes, it's funny that. There's been quite a bit of research done on this as well and all concludes that newer bonds have a higher chance of winning. Maybe its something to do with what battlebus says above eg most bought since year 2000 but i know many people that have either old bonds or new bonds and time and time again it is exclusively only the newer holders that seem to win anything...

Personally, for many reasons, i do not trust PB's and wouldnt put any kind of serious money into them.

Yes it’s been proved newly bought bonds have a bigger percentage chance of winning. NOT!!!

Every single bond has the same odds of winning

Its website states: “Each £1 Bond number has an equal chance of winning, regardless of when or where it was bought.

“Over 95 percent of eligible Bonds have been bought since the year 2000.

“So even though Premium Bonds have been on sale for over 60 years, this is why newer Bonds seem to win more frequently

I've held a few premium bonds for donkeys years and never won a penny. I can't hope to get anywhere near the no-pants trader level of expertise Lol...

Two points:

1) There was someone earlier this year who bought a small number of PB's (few hundred) back in the 1950's (think 1957). They won a 25,000 or 50,000 (can't recall which). So patience MAY pay off one day!

Whilst water is the subject of conversation im looking at a number of companies involved in water management, services and systems. This is a great growth area and another sector with an actual tailwind..

I think MKS may have further to go share price wise, @ £4.57b mcap it will almost certainly be promoted to FTSE100 at the end of Aug and with little current Institutional ownership many funds will have to buy,that is apart from healthy broker upgrades recently.

They've been great performers for those that have held but thats exactly the reason why they are unlikely to go any more. AIMHO..
