Not a bad update today. Sounds as though a corner has been turned and that there's some new strategy ahead now

Their inability to stick to any plan will hurt more than any gains I reckon.

Pump it and dump it. This is true too often for Johnson Mathey. Last I cam out was around 2200p when big investor built up stack. I will wait now for recent low b4 dipping my toe again.

Interesting Merrill Lynch decreasing while others increasing....
I guess the next few weeks will tell us more..

On balance, on this occasion, I take the view, you have to be in it, to win it.

Maybe to do with the £ dropping ? JM rely on raw materials paid for in $. I cashed in when they hit 1850 the other day so waiting on a dip of around 1650 to get back in if it comes but honestly it's guesswork.

Started well but falling behind now:

Melrose up 5%
Rolls Royce up 3%
BA Systems up 1%

We are currently just up 0.5%

maxplus2: Do we know what JMAT has a monopoly on or near monopoly?
I thought Catalytic Converters would not count as the era of the petrol car is nearing its end.
If anything I would have thought the government would semi-welcome a takeover of JMAT...

Perhaps I am misreading the situation.

Takeover highly unlikely. It will be rejected by Monopoly Commission assuming they have learnt their lesson from Cobham debacle

Worth remembering that these guys bought Grace...after buying a stake and increasing %. Then there was bid, bid was increased until accepted. It took 3 years. We are 1year in, after initial investment...They are now largest shareholder...
