24/1/2024 14:53 | Got a new trial via Google. :) 'Sir Tim Martin raised a glass to strong Christmas trading this morning as he reiterated that reaching 1,000 pubs remained a target for his JD Wetherspoon chain. At its peak in 2015, the company had 951 pubs and its founder talked boldly of reaching 1,000 one day. Yet today, on the back of rising taxes, soaring staff costs, the pandemic and a cost of living crisis, the company has a trading estate of only 814 pubs. Announcing a strong first-half trading update, the newly knighted chairman said that, despite the disposal or closure of 137 pubs over that period, he remained convinced the group can still reach four figures.' | isis
24/1/2024 14:32 | According to the Times Tim wants to increase the number of Pubs to 1000! Unfortunately the article locked me out as Free Trial ended today! lol | isis
24/1/2024 11:12 | Given they are spending £100m on refurbs and Pub openings plus the Share buybacks it's no bad thing that the debt won't be rising! Meanwhile back at the Bar :-)) | isis
24/1/2024 10:55 | Does anybody have any year end 2024 debt figure expectations before today's £642m ? MarketScreener had JDW debt rising from £642m to £918m. | darrin1471
24/1/2024 10:54 | Does anybody have any year end 2024 debt figure expectations before today's £642m ? MarketScreener had JDW debt rising from £642m to £918m. | darrin1471
24/1/2024 08:46 | I think they run the business very well so the buybacks aren't a problem and have enhanced the share price thus far. They don't really advertise their Hotels enough imo. No mention of the Haven tie up and numerous refurbs either, but Tim Martin does understate generally. | isis
24/1/2024 08:33 | Share price up 15% since JDW started the share buy back in early December breaking the flat trend since April 2023 | darrin1471
24/1/2024 08:20 | Should they be paying off some debt rather than spending money on buy backs ? | gipps
24/1/2024 08:20 | MarketScreener had JDW debt rising from £642m to £918m in 2024. FCF £58m | darrin1471

24/1/2024 07:45 | "Wetherspoon currently expects an outcome for the financial year in line with market expectations" "Debt levels at the end of FY24 are currently expected to be broadly in line with the level reported at the end of FY23 (GBP642m)." (share buybacks?) Expectations and debt may disappoint but the LFL sales are the best I've seen. | darrin1471

24/1/2024 07:32 | Decent update. I think they could put 10p on a drink in the London Pubs and no one would bat an Eyelid given the prices of the other Pubs. I now check the website's of some of the pubs I go to so I know what I'm in for given the range can be anything from £5-£8 a pint! | isis

23/1/2024 22:50 | I'm annoyed with the Govt, as they could have made me reasonably wealthy by now lol ?I can't really understand them ,with all the billions they have squandered ?I thought that would have been a Tory policy, after going to war for them ?Next year Rodney ?hTTps://youtu.be/sL | gozzie2
23/1/2024 22:31 | If you know of a new company worth buying, let us know lol .? | gozzie2
23/1/2024 22:29 | Brexit was the main factor last time and Corbyn .They went from 38 percent in 2015 to 45 percent in 2019.The Reform ukip voters and Labour in the North went to them .Now 28 percent at best and 10 percent Reform.I really don't believe we will see the Tories back in our lifetime, because the Tories will go to Farage or someone similar and things the next 5 years may improve slightly with Labour . That won't be too difficult lol .That means 10 years and then they may change the electoral system. This Simon Clarke can see that coming. | gozzie2
23/1/2024 22:29 | Other than Spoons and an investment trust all my money is in US ETF's now.Can not see the UK market doing much in the next few years. To many old school companies with limited prospects imo. | tim 3
23/1/2024 22:07 | The Tories now saying what I said 3 years ago ?Spot on ?They should have voted Rory ?hTTps://news.sky.co | gozzie2
23/1/2024 20:06 | I don't believe there will be much difference whoever wins, as the country is 2,600 billion in debt ?Not a lot you can do after that lol ?Adding 800,000 extra people a year and no homes for them ?Elderly population will increase and zero growth .?A basket case ? | gozzie2 |
