26/4/2016 21:22 | Hi John, Looking at google chart i have held JIM since 2007 when they broke above £200 and the talk was of a T/O. Over the years ive added and let thr DRIP build up a large holding (for me) of over 6,000 shares. I have never sold and will continue to add the odd 100 shares and see where they take me !. Regards | tenapen
26/4/2016 12:14 | Interesting Tenapen. The peer group which they compare with seem to be at least in part the big names which figure in comments about poor customer service on the bulletin boards. " Benchmarked revenue peer group comprises: Alliance Trust Savings, Barclays Stockbrokers, Equiniti, Halifax Sharedealing, HSBC Stockbrokers, Saga Personal Finance, Selftrade and TD Direct Investing. - Dealing commission (which currently accounts for c.46% of Group revenues) increased by 1% relative to Q1 2015. This performance compares favourably with that of the peer group, which experienced a decrease of 12%. " To use a popular cliché the more nimble companies are eating the big boys lunch and Share PLC managed an increase of 1% Follow the insiders has been a good guide in the past with JIM and I'm sure the dividend will beat deposit interest by a large percentage so for a long term hold I'm comfortable with my purchase. | melton john
26/4/2016 08:44 | The Share Centre issued their results this morning. They have signed a big name (not given) but other than that, it's still tough for Brokers. Ho Hum. | tenapen
05/4/2016 13:52 | Fun and games with the share price as usual at this time of year. I think Mr Jolyon Head is braver than me tenapen, his wife won't be pleased if his buys are badly timed. | melton john
04/4/2016 17:46 | Your braver than myself, John. Good Luck BRW had a good day today. They are not a direct comparison to JIM but in the same sector. | tenapen
03/4/2016 20:32 | Hi Tenapen, I'm emptying a bank account paying 1.5% and buying good divi payers like JIM while others are selling them. Some comparisons Hargreaves-Lansdowne EPS------33.1p______ Div------33.2p______ Turnover_£395m P/E-------40.33_____ market cap£6351m_____ cash_______£21 Div yield...2.46%_______ EPS growth.-3.77%_______ Share price_1339p_________ By Aim standards the feeling might be that the share price is very high, given that so many like shares of 10p with the feeling the sky's the limit. A price of over £13 for HL puts it into perspective. No doubt in my mind which has more upside. | melton john
01/4/2016 17:35 | John, Your in good company, with another RNS declaring more Director + family buys. Other than a rare 100 share's buy for me, I am just relying on the DRIP to build up my holding :-( . Regards. | tenapen
01/4/2016 11:17 | Another buy for me at 338, another sell at 336. | melton john
20/3/2016 11:16 | Hi John, As a DRIP'er it could prove to be better in the long term to have as many DRIP's paid at this level ( unless the share price falls further ! ). But after the introduction of L'ISA and other ISA changes i was expecting some sign of movement even if a seller took us back down soon after !. Just something, Ho Hum. Regards. | tenapen
19/3/2016 19:19 | Hi Tenapen, 2 months to the next divi announcement. Maybe a trading statement. With all the insider purchases, I can't imagine that things have been so quiet that they are making paper aeroplanes at Jarvis while they wait for the phone to ring. | melton john
18/3/2016 21:38 | I think people have been sitting on their hands waiting to see a positive sign in the main markets. Miners are rallying so maybe when they've had a punt their they will get around to AIM. Or am I being too optimistic. | melton john
18/3/2016 16:04 | With more Director buy's i would have thought the share price would show some signs of strenght ! but we seem to be treading water until the MMs decide other wise. Regards | tenapen
12/3/2016 23:27 | Thanks tenapen, Apropos of dividends, a little clip from an article I was reading:- If you’d stuck £100 in the stockmarket in 1900 and relied on capital gains alone, it would now be worth £240 (after inflation). With dividends reinvested, it would have grown to a staggering £44,500 (again, after inflation). At 7% compound I make it £256,164, (I wish) 100x(1.07)^116 | melton john
12/3/2016 12:54 | I echo Steelwatch's thoughts... as usual. Good to have you here John, driving conversation. | tenapen
11/3/2016 23:55 | On my mobile at the mo, but did a quick calc earlier at around £3.43 inc costs. Always difficult to be exact because they don't break down the individual components of the deal. I have thought about going back to cash divi, but don't trust myself not to stick it into a gold miner or oil explorer on the latest hot tip, so sticking with the £cost averaging method. Of course, there is a risk of adverse events bringing this little earner low too, but very pleased with progress since the IPO at the time JIM came to AIM. | steelwatch
11/3/2016 23:17 | Do you mind if I ask at what price were the drip shares traded? I usually just roll up the divi and buy when the price dips. | melton john
11/3/2016 18:16 | DRIPS dropped into my nominee a/c today. Efficient as ever :o) | steelwatch
11/3/2016 17:55 | Our big seller must be looking for more excitement and raising some stake money. I don't need excitement, decent dividend rate suits me, a rule of thumb compound interest calculation says at 7.5% double your money in 10yrs compared with 25yrs at 3% We seem to have a floor to the share price now, usual form is a rise towards divi announcement which was 13th May last year. | melton john
10/3/2016 08:04 | Another 9000 shares repurchased at 335p yesterday. They have now bought back 136,500 shares at an average price of 361.3p over the past 6 months at a cost of £493,150. | masurenguy
09/3/2016 12:10 | Happy to share some of my digging regarding dividend record, the market seems to think it overpriced it seems. Maybe on a p/e basis the price is high but it consistently pays at least 66% of earnings as divi giving a historic yield of 7.8%. Year--2010--2011--20 EPS---10.73-13.84-16 Divi--9.0---10.0--11 Steady rise for the last 6 yrs, a little wobble before as some acquisition write downs were made, but still consistently good performance. | melton john
08/3/2016 11:23 | Another top-up for me, as I said before if its good enough for Andrew Grant its good enough for me. ADVFN Financials for Jim gives historic yield of 7.8%. I can't find a better picks and shovels company. Seems to ride out the economy well. Interest rates go up, income goes up, dividend goes up; interest rates go down, divi yield is more attractive and shares go up. Getting in early at this level seems a great way of hedging your bets as a long term investment. Fraction of EPS paid out as divi for the last 4 yrs = .68, .66, .75, 1.08 . Steady as she goes Captain. | melton john
07/3/2016 20:04 | D(ividend) R(e)-I(nvestment) P(lan) for dividend payees opted in. You can, of course, just take the cash. | steelwatch
07/3/2016 19:37 | Been looking at this recently. What are DRIPs? | darryn1
07/3/2016 19:27 | DRIPs drop Friday/Monday if they are on the ball as usual. | steelwatch
07/3/2016 18:00 | Another 25,000 shares repurchased @335.5p last Thursday. That means they have bought back 127,500 shares at an average price of 363.2p over the past 6 months at a cost of £463,000. | masurenguy |
