30/8/2007 14:25 | Thanks - typically cautious AGM statement from them - wouldn;t expect anything less lol. Good first half and second looking ok but they are just being cautious as ever - so expect them to outperform in second half too. Onward and upwards to £3 I say | felix99
30/8/2007 09:38 | Well I got some answers for you, felix, by a circuitous route. Floods are hoped to provide more flooring business. Short term wood prices are expected to rise. Long term as it is cyclical prices will come down. Wrt excess cash it is hoped to develop the core business with expansion, new products, new depots and other associated businesses (whatever that may mean!). On pensions "Assume FRS17 calculation of deficit - mortality tables PA92sc (YOB) + 1 year is same as 2005 valuation (1 year = £1.56 m) Discout rate is rate on 21 year long swap gilts." Hope it helps AG | ann gough
22/8/2007 11:41 | Have the floods had any effect on business ? Where do they see the trend in the price of wood short and long term ? Are current prices high in their view or still a way to go. Is China sucking wood supplies East and so keeping prices high here? Would they consider buying shares back or a special dividend as they are throwing off lots of cash? Pension Scheme Is the desktop update done on the scheme for FRS17 / IAS disclosure purposes using the current mortality rates or the ones used in the last formal valuation in 2005? i.e is the deficit calculated on 2005 mortality rates or 2007's current ones? What affects the discount rate used in the pension scheme assumptions? Thanks - Ann | felix99
22/8/2007 10:34 | I'm moderately confident they do sandwiches and coffee so I may go or send the pot along with a doggy bag to keep him fed and out of my way. So if you've questions you want asking feel free to list them here. | ann gough

22/8/2007 08:46 | Anyone going to the AGM? | ann gough
07/8/2007 11:56 | The company bought a big chunk of shares recently. They must feel that the price can only go up. | hvs
04/8/2007 12:28 | They are bent on building the business up. So no worries whatsoever. | hvs
03/8/2007 13:06 | I doubt the Lathams would let themselves be taken over at a price any purchaser would regard as anywhere near viable. | ann gough
03/8/2007 09:54 | I doubt the Lathams would let themselves be taken over cheaply. | wiganer
03/8/2007 09:11 | buildbase are an expanding business and have been buying up all the indy building centres that are left i reckon lthm could be a subject for their expansion policy for their timber yards | ntv
31/7/2007 18:08 | They should be, they have enough working capital (CASH) | hvs
31/7/2007 11:36 | yup and I'm no chartist but it certainly looks like up :-) Timber prices will rise and i reckon that uplift in stock value makes em £3 or £4m a year alone. Lets hope they are stocked to the gills | felix99 |
