Channel 4 cutting 15% of jobs. Will we see ITV also announce something similar? Might explain the horrible open today!

Hedge...Slater started this thread and he's a good egg, it has always had mostly good people posting. Pity every now and again a troll turns up, let's hope you don't fit the image.

If you don't like us, why don't you keep your own counsel or if you wish start your own thread. Good luck anyways but I will stick with this thread thanks.

I understand the UK TV Advertising markets have plateaued in Q1 24 (so far anyway) but it’s now the production ITV Studios side that’s suffering.
Fortunately the advertising side is virtually 100% profit vs 13-14% margins on the Studios side.
So when TV advertising markets tick up……? Likely H2 at the earliest although the Euros will generate a short term blip up just for ITV but will smooth out across the year.

The greater digital advertising markets are still nose diving seeking a bottom -Maybe in 2025?? In these markets the long tail of sites will likely disappear before 25 and margins are now finally really under pressure.

Shares move in mysterious ways...doom doom doom over a period of time until all the rate hikes are worked through and exhausted...then the narrative swifts to doom not as bad as feared and potential of rates cuts ahead...then the recovery starts...

Shame we can't get an update here, I just hope we see some improvement in the numbers as the CEO seems incapable of issuing a positive statement. A reduction in debt would help move the stagnant share price.

Last September ITV plc had a total debt of £859.0m as of June 2023, down from £1.07b a year prior. The company had cash worth £264.0m, leading to a net debt of about £595.0m1. So I will be hoping for a reduction coupled with a positive statement, but as we all know Dame McCall and happy statements are very rare.

Thanks for the ink Stag, I couldn't agree more with the article, hope things look up for ITV, it's out of favour but so is the UK stockmarket.

zaxarobal. I didn't know about Amazon being interested in ITV, but reading the article above, itv surely looks like a company that could become a player against the big boys if and when advertising returns. I watch a lot of stuff on Youtube and if the ad is more than 10 secs long just flip out and back in and the ad disappears.

Companies are aware that TV advertising with ITV is very successful, so when it comes back, ITV will benefit big time.

The market was up on Friday but ITV wasn't by much more than a few teenies. ITV needs a re-rating if the numbers in March are better than expected.

ITV studios arm is a winner but seem not to boost the share price I leave an interesting link from last monday by Yahoo finance.
