SlaterI'm not saying Britbox is the key here, but others on this site keep ramping it as though it is, I'm just flagging it's a drain on profits at the moment and will be for some time. Not saying it's a Netflix either.I'm here because I agree that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole and this is cheap, didn't buy because I hope someone puts a decent bid in though.....that's been the talk for some years now.

slater5: You have to add on the Australian/NZ numbers soon as original info said "AUTUMN"... It was great to see Jacinda Ardern getting a big part on the first episode of Spitting Image and that episode being in the New Zealand Herald...
That has to be a good start!

Does anyone have the actual start date of the Australasian launch date?
All I have if "Autumn"

I switched to Britbox and not looked back. Done Wolf Hall and the Prisoner. Now I'm half way through the Avengers (John Steed and Emma Peel)

disco..Britbox doesn't have to, as Carolyn McCall said, Britbox is not competing with Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. It is an add on, the basics of it are insignificant as it would cost billions to produce the original content. I think they would love to see 1.5 million UK subscribers, there are a million in the USA already and it has only been rolled out in certain areas and none of the big cities.

The true way one has to look at ITV, is to assess the parts of it, the studios and equipment which adds up to a lot of equity, the soaps and proven shows that pull in big ad numbers, the hubs, the 4 channels and Britbox.

That is what a suitor will be looking at, it wouldn't surprise me if there were two big players involved in a bid, 250 to 300p would be the figure. As Goldman and Liberty are involved, the actual shares to be grabbed would see this take off big time.

Dare I start to get that feeling, where my portfolio will start to make me money?
Would love to see 2 years into the future, see where share prices are!
All I got to remember is to do nothing, surely even I can do that :)

Just read their statement again, they can't just mean it's only Britbox in the UK that is forecast to make up to £60m loss......on say 400k subscribers!, jeez what's going on.....dread to think what not being "on plan" would look like.IMO Britbox is not going to move the dial here for some years.

From the final results issued March 2020:'BritBox UK venture losses were GBP21 million in 2019 and we expect the venture losses to be around GBP55 million to GBP60 million in 2020, broadly equivalent to the net investment we previously guided to.'They also said Britbox USA was profitable so wtf is going on with Canada and UK is beyond me, although guess it's the UK that's the issue. So IMO they are making savings elsewhere to support the losses from Britbox.

Netcurtains et al should smell the coffee about Britbox, as this extract from an article hits the nail on the head about how long it will be before it's profitable and the losses:'The company reported a £21 million loss on the venture in 2019, which was lower than the £25 million it had expected, although it forecast a further loss of £55 million to £65 million in 2020."We anticipate that BritBox UK will remain in the net investment phase for a number of years as we build its subscriber base, but in time will provide a meaningful profit stream to ITV," the company said.'Https://informitv.com/2020/03/08/britbox-on-plan-without-revealing-numbers/

disco..They were pitching it would be good to see 1.5 million within a couple of years, so if they have already reached that figure, that's good news for shareholders.

Where did you see those figures?

They have a large number of put and call options, as well as some contracts for difference holdings ... so not like a fund manager selling down. It looks to me that they are reducing their ability to game the share price, rather than selling down. Is it just a coincidence that the share price has enjoyed an upward trajectory just as they start lightening up on options and CDC's? It looks like their foot is off the neck of the share price.

My share price battle between Reach and ITV continues, but now its 86p vs 72p, but ITV will catch them soon ;)
They both rely on advertising to a certain extent, so good to see other media companies doing well!

I just continue to buy, as I have said the last time I felt like this over itv was
when I was buying in the 20ps and 30p's and up to selling at 200p plus.

I can see them getting back to 150p quite easily.

I am just going to hang onto my shares, I tried selling after rises and trying to buy back in cheaper before on other shares. That rarely ever worked, I just ended up buying back at same level or higher, doh.
Now I let the share do the work, not me, I just kick back and relax ;)

SRP, couldn't agree more. The uptrend is looking good and goodness knows what GS are up to now and a little profit taking is always healthy. There are some blue skies ahead on a chart perspective and I'm sure the Yanks will love Spitting Image so all looking good !
