05/10/2020 17:32 | Apologies mate, I stand corrected. Absolutely no chance of ITV ever reaching those lofty levels again. I don't mind saying but I'm looking for £1.20 for starters in any bid situation here. And very much doubt if we'll see the likes of 57p again unless there is a massive tree shake before the bid. | ivanborsky
05/10/2020 17:30 | I'm hoping i bought them .. | amaretto1
05/10/2020 17:24 | ivanand all those shares you nicked off goldman at 57 are doing well :)i sold my traders at 61 thinking a retest of 58 was on the cards :( | stansmith3
05/10/2020 17:22 | and dont forget curtains calling for britbox to double the share price from 100 to 200 within 6 months, just yesterdaythats some growth rate in subscription | stansmith3
05/10/2020 17:19 | ivanslater did two hours ago | stansmith3
05/10/2020 17:14 | But, my hopes are to double or treble my portfolio value over the next 5 years, inc recycling divis. Then I can retire ;) - if trebled! I did want to retire to a Greek island and eat, drink and swim my days out, hope that Brexit still allows this! | hamhamham1
05/10/2020 17:13 | good close, hopefully with a decent US close we could chaalenge 75p tomorrow. dyor | srpactive
05/10/2020 17:12 | StanCompletely agree. | discodave45
05/10/2020 17:11 | Is it just me? (Who isn't gazillions up?) And no offence taken :) | hamhamham1
05/10/2020 17:10 | Some of my shares are up and some are down. Am pretty well at break even in total currently, that may sound bad but I reckon about 80% of UK shares have been going downhill since June? | hamhamham1
05/10/2020 16:57 | Big finish for STV too | netcurtains
05/10/2020 16:51 | With due respect Stan, I can't recall anyone on here calling £3.00 unless you're talking back in July/August 2015 when the stock hit £2.82 ish. I've always said the company is cheap and still is cheap, goodness knows whom GS are buying for but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. | ivanborsky
05/10/2020 16:38 | ddtotally rightbritbox and takeover come a long way behind the issues facing itvthe recession and how itv gets through it is ALL thats important right nowbritbox moving the needle and someone paying 300p for itv is utter nonsense, just mindless garbage from people who clearly have no clue | stansmith3
05/10/2020 16:35 | Fair point Stan.Ham, wasnt intending to offend either | jarega85
05/10/2020 16:33 | i would find someone saying they had not made any money much more credible than the blowhards like ameretta and phat munter? | stansmith3
05/10/2020 16:27 | Very happy with a close over 72p, would much prefer a continued steady rise as we have seen | jarega85
05/10/2020 16:18 | Ham, not making yourself come across very credible by saying your portfolio hasnt made any money BUT you are right, this investment will give you a return if you bought in at high 50s like me!! Lol | jarega85
05/10/2020 15:57 | I'm pleased to see todays RNS that Goldman Sachs have released further shares in ITV, their holding now stands at 13.86%, it stood at 21% not so long ago. Not forgetting that GS hold 9.9% on behalf of Liberty Global. The big question is who is GS off loading the shares to? | nige co
05/10/2020 15:55 | SlaterI'm not saying Britbox is the key here, but others on this site keep ramping it as though it is, I'm just flagging it's a drain on profits at the moment and will be for some time. Not saying it's a Netflix either.I'm here because I agree that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole and this is cheap, didn't buy because I hope someone puts a decent bid in though.....that's been the talk for some years now. | discodave45
05/10/2020 15:52 | slater5: You have to add on the Australian/NZ numbers soon as original info said "AUTUMN"... It was great to see Jacinda Ardern getting a big part on the first episode of Spitting Image and that episode being in the New Zealand Herald... That has to be a good start! Does anyone have the actual start date of the Australasian launch date? All I have if "Autumn" I switched to Britbox and not looked back. Done Wolf Hall and the Prisoner. Now I'm half way through the Avengers (John Steed and Emma Peel) | netcurtains
05/10/2020 15:42 | disco..Britbox doesn't have to, as Carolyn McCall said, Britbox is not competing with Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. It is an add on, the basics of it are insignificant as it would cost billions to produce the original content. I think they would love to see 1.5 million UK subscribers, there are a million in the USA already and it has only been rolled out in certain areas and none of the big cities. The true way one has to look at ITV, is to assess the parts of it, the studios and equipment which adds up to a lot of equity, the soaps and proven shows that pull in big ad numbers, the hubs, the 4 channels and Britbox. That is what a suitor will be looking at, it wouldn't surprise me if there were two big players involved in a bid, 250 to 300p would be the figure. As Goldman and Liberty are involved, the actual shares to be grabbed would see this take off big time. | slater5
05/10/2020 15:01 | Dare I start to get that feeling, where my portfolio will start to make me money? Would love to see 2 years into the future, see where share prices are! All I got to remember is to do nothing, surely even I can do that :) | hamhamham1
05/10/2020 14:33 | Just read their statement again, they can't just mean it's only Britbox in the UK that is forecast to make up to £60m loss......on say 400k subscribers!, jeez what's going on.....dread to think what not being "on plan" would look like.IMO Britbox is not going to move the dial here for some years. | discodave45
05/10/2020 14:05 | From the final results issued March 2020:'BritBox UK venture losses were GBP21 million in 2019 and we expect the venture losses to be around GBP55 million to GBP60 million in 2020, broadly equivalent to the net investment we previously guided to.'They also said Britbox USA was profitable so wtf is going on with Canada and UK is beyond me, although guess it's the UK that's the issue. So IMO they are making savings elsewhere to support the losses from Britbox. | discodave45
05/10/2020 13:55 | Netcurtains et al should smell the coffee about Britbox, as this extract from an article hits the nail on the head about how long it will be before it's profitable and the losses:'The company reported a £21 million loss on the venture in 2019, which was lower than the £25 million it had expected, although it forecast a further loss of £55 million to £65 million in 2020."We anticipate that BritBox UK will remain in the net investment phase for a number of years as we build its subscriber base, but in time will provide a meaningful profit stream to ITV," the company said.'Https://inform | discodave45 |
