So the 49p buy price is for a scheme that has recently closed (ie the share price was 61.25p at termination date). For future schemes I can't see how they can set a fixed price when the discount is fixed and the price is unknown. As posted, it's a win win.

Fill your boots JD. A bargain regardless of how takeover would work. Wish I could buy some at 49p.

Do not max anything out, be conservative at all times.

Yes employment is more important depending on your age and
wealth of course.

49p was the price grsnted at the effective date with 20% discounted applied. I don't believe the bonus exists anymore but the other terms you describe remain the same.

I had a SAYE in a company that was taken over. If my memory serves me well the scheme crystallises at the bid price and you get paid out.

JDFrom previous SAYE schemes at ITV it used to be 20% share price discount at the end of the term (3 or 5 years) plus tax free bonus (some schemes limit this bonus to the 5 year schemes only). They are a win win opportunity. Would ask you how do you know it's a share price of 49p, sounds odd to me. Don't know what happens if a takeover but then why worry about that as you cannot lose money anyway.

srpactive I've maxed out a 5 year plan which is pushing my budget to its limit. Just don't want any takeover to happen too soon. I suppose i should also consider my employment as well as the share scheme:-D

jammyit depends, my last one had a clause where all bonus shares and shares bought ex ni and tax instantly matured and inland revenue had no issue with rough rule of thumb is youll break even, even if the shares are much lower when you sell

If you feel confident of an approach buy as many of the 49p on offer
and if that is not enough buy more in parallel in the open market to top it up.

Your choice I am afraid.

ITV employee here who's been lurking on this thread for a number of months. Some really useful contributions and entertaining at times!!!

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with SAYE schemes and inparticular, what tends to happen with them if there's a takeover? I always participate in the scheme but never make any money!

The latest share option has the potential to be quite lucrative (49p) but I don't suppose that would be the case if a takeover was to happen in the early days of the scheme with only a handful of contributions made?

Made the decision to close my trade first thing this morning for a profit. But obviously with hindsight was a bit impatient. Started a new position on my IG account. Probably would be up an extra £200 with a bit more patience.

I am not one for blindly pushing, but in fairness I agree,
although if we were to get momentum through 67p, 80p might
be more likely than not. But one step at a time, lets get through
67p first.
