Excellent summary post 7680, bigegoadvfn. These stakes are a great idea. All that is "lost" is some advertising space which will simply be added on to existing space so is effectively cost free, with huge upside potential.

I've been glued to ITVs "Fortune Hotel" for the past two weeks...
What have I missed?

ITV went up a bit, some people moaned it wasn't worth it.

Anyone bashing the RNS today about Strike/Purplebricks - probably doesn't fully understand what is going on.

I find "ITV Adventures Invest" is an exciting addition to the ITV portfolio of assets.

Describing it simplistically - they are playing Dragon's Den - offering early stage companies advertising airtime in exchange for equity stakes.

The portfolio is already quite diverse (see link below for more details) and I am more than happy for ITV to inject more diversity into their future income.

They only have to get lucky and get a stake in the next Reggae Reggae Sauce or Ring Doorbell for this part of the business to hit the bigtime and be yet another 'down the sofa' asset not priced in (just like the Britbox stake was)...

I hope they keep it up and build a huge investment portfolio!

No idea what I'll do with the cash...
I guess if ITV goes down enough today I'll bung it back into ITV...
Depends...
I'll see how it goes...

Cant see the point of this investment in an Estate Agency.

Just sell the company.

This is just wasting money whilst treading water imo

It's media for equity - free advertising at a low point in the advertising cycle. A shot to nothing as I don't think it costs ITV anything.

Perhaps it’s a not so subtle way of hauling the ‘For Sale’ sign over the company.

Is the ITV share price accurately valued by the market? Who knows? You pays your money and you takes your chance.
But in the event of a takeover bid (however unlikely) what kind of premium might it attract?
Relatively recent examples of how the market can on occasion be wildly out of step with underlying valuations - Hotel Chocolat sold for a 170% premium, Lord Ashcroft’s Impellam had a 155% mark-up, and logistics group Wincanton taken out for 104% more than its pre-bid price.
For those dismissive of a decent take-out price for ITV, careful for what you wish for if selling up possibly prematurely!
Might never happen, but if it does…

What is soon? The kids need new shoes.

And, if I may ask, what's your price target?

Assuming the rally continues, what are people thinking?

I know some of us slag off Jonnybig, but his post 7633 is uncannily accurate!
Alternatively, with that sort of knowledge he should be making millions and not mucking about on this BB?

Johnny big , I’m intrigued. You were correct to predict the bounce in buyback volume. Please explain what you meant by ‘algos out of sync.’

But I repeat marks. GF implied Malone and Silchester are in league. Zero chance. Based on what evidence? Just because he’s not familiar with silchester doesn’t make it plain vanilla. And that’s exactly what they are and their 5% investment is. Absolutely zero evidence ever of those two being in league. Just makes it up as he goes along. Baby reindeer.

I am fairly certain Liberty will sell their holding at the right price. Malone has already publicly touted it in a November 2022 CNBC interview. That is the only direct evidence I’ve seen that ITV might have been in play during that period of time. It felt to me like he was trying to drum up further interest.

I am not suggesting anything is happening in that regard now though.
