Possibly my most ill-judged buy in the history of my ill-judged buying.. 😀 Good thing it was only a top-up otherwise I would not be laughing. Its beginning to look what ever meetings were going on have ended... The ball is probably in someones court and the lookers-on are assuming "no deal" - but of course lookers-on are not insiders they are guessing but better guessing than I can do... |
I agree with your summation Huckers. Yesterday was a lovely move , but disappointing volume. Goldfinger , you seem to be trying to claim some kind of ‘I told you so.’ Yet all the press is about ITV merging or selling their studio business with European , VC or Middle East parties. All you have done (for 3 years), is bang on about a mystery US buyer……. Who has never materialised. Perhaps you should get your pipe seen to…… |
The impression given by recent press stories is that there is pressure from investors on the CEO to have the share price more fully reflect the sum of the parts. So, yes, I agree - it's likely something will take place (even it is just a transaction around ITV Studios alone). Preferably a cash bid for the full company though.
The volume yesterday behind the rise was relatively light. And today it is super low. It's almost as if a lot of holders are sitting on their hands: not buying and not selling. |
I'd have thought that an initial bid of 3bn was a little on the low side even if it is just for part of the business. |

Cheers for the update, goldfinger. Much appreciated 👍

Jonny, 80p should have been reached last week as my source forecast. However markets are nervous across the pond. Big worries on tech.ITV are ok, just waiting on the grab which will come soon, my buddy says they will reach close to a 100p on the run up. I scoffed but he is adamant. Naysayers stick that in your pipe. |
The trade press picking up on it. Interesting to see the valuation placed on studios in the article. |
rumours sometimes are true. although sudden unexplained changes in share price late in the day are often more true. |
All the ones you lot were mentioning over the weekend. I was just summarizing my position after reading all your posts. |
net , you say strong rumours in the press. Which papers please? |
Up on relatively strong bid rumours in the press for all or part of ITV... |
It looks like goldfingers prediction of the share price hitting 80p in quick time ⏲ is absolutely spot on! What's the latest, goldfinger?

Completely agree with you Marks. Always very important to hear the bear case if you’re a bull and vice versa. |
Huckers
I think the market cap is effectively valuing linear at zero or even negative.
I think AI is making a reasonable case, whether you happen to agree is what makes a market
I do wish that anyone who posts a negative view wasn't immediately called out as being a shorter or, a paid de-ramper as if posting on Advfn, anonymously, had any bearing on anything. |
Huckers , excellent post on the ITV debt situation , thank you. |
This might give the markets a boost...

I like their tough stance on people getting into their country and crack down on anti-social behaviour. The main road past our hotel had five lanes going through (onw way) and a really wide walkway where there were no skate boards, cyclists or joggers allowed. It was spotless as was their underground system. And at £15 a pint you don't see many drunks walking around ;-) |
tiobs2: Signapore got rich by (a) making itself independent from the rest of Malaysia and (b) right wing dictatorship allowing mass migration of very wealthy people and (c) migration of guest workers (poor people) to do the work...
I guess that is a sort of brexit followed by 10 years of Conservative rule and mass migration... It didnt seem to work for us

Well three weeeks r&r in the far east and come back to no takeover news or even further chapters of ripping yarns and goldfingers deal done but not dusted best seller ;-)
If Starmer wants to see how to build a secure and safe country with a booming economy he needs to head off over to Singapore to see how the professionals do it. Failing that resign and let somebody else sort this embarrasing farce in the UK out !!! |
