15/12/2012 03:02 | hola really into Grimes/ Claire Boucher at the minute, think she really 'gets' music imv, and it's heartening to see someone overcoming bullying because of usual stereotypical ideas of being a bit different, in a small town it won't be to everyone's taste on here, but I think considering she choreographs, directs her own videos to boot, has the voice of an Angel, and if I was on pseud's corner, is getting towards Bach in terms of counterpoint (notwithstanding that BOSS looping pedal) - and tackles such heavy subjects as Adam and Eve (OK, easy one maybe), she's probably got more talent in her fingernails then most! See what you think..! | ![]() wolterix

12/12/2012 09:21 | German electro pioneers Kraftwerk are to play eight shows at Tate Modern's Turbine Hall in February. Kraftwerk: The Catalogue will see the group play eight of their studio albums in full - one every night, in order of release. The Tate described the shows as a "chronological exploration of the group's sonic and visual experiments" and promised "spectacular 3D effects". Appropriately for the venue, the band's name translates as "power station". Influential They first performed the retrospective set at New York's Museum of Modern Art earlier this year. Beginning with their fourth album, 1974's Autobahn, the quartet will also play Radio-Activity (1975), Trans Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991) and Tour de France (2003), along with additional compositions from their back catalogue. "As a former power station, Tate Modern's Turbine Hall is an ideal venue for Kraftwerk's explorations of technology, energy and rhythm," said gallery director Chris Dercon. "Bringing together music, video and performance, these events will be true gesamtkunstwerk - a total work of art." The shows will be the group's first in London since 2004. Kraftwerk were at the forefront of synthesiser pop and had a huge influence on hip-hop and dance music in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their most successful UK chart hits were Autobahn which peaked at 11 in 1975 and The Model which reached number one in 1981. Tickets for the shows, which run from 6-14 February, will cost £60. They go on sale on Tate's website on 12 December at 07:30 GMT. | ![]() bamboo2
07/12/2012 08:59 | For any of you who spit blood at the intonation on guitars like me, esp the sharpness of the 1st 5 frets compared to the open string, then I've found a cheap fix, namely the SOS compenstaed nut. You butt this nut up against the origninal nut and the string tension holds it in place. The only slight difficulty is ensuring the comp nut hits the strings, but they provide 3 X 1mm foil? strips to adjust the height of the the comp nut (or you could file the slots on your original nut) I got it for 15 quid from philadephier luthier in USA via Ebay and I have just ordered an acoustic version. | merlin55 |
