Comedy is the ONLY reason to come to this BB :)

Dodgy charts, advice that 'anything below 150p' is a buy at the peak of the cyclical market and highly dubious 'research' best left to the likes of Edison.

I flew from Manchester to Vancouver last week via Atlanta. When you enter USA and Canada you get photographed and your face gets matched to your passport. You get electronically finger printed too into the USA.However the new thing, which there were signs up about, was in Atlanta airport (which is one of the biggest in the world) they were using facial recognition at the boarding gate. You no longer needed a boarding pass. You simply looked at a camera and if it recognised your face as matching your passport and ticketing details, you were on. All in a milli second. I briefly saw my picture on the screen and I was looking sideways and down but it still cleared me. It then prints a 3 inch square slip of paper with your seat number. I had been early to the gate and had been chatting to the guy operating the system. As I went through, he whispered that I will see my seat number has changed and he had upgraded me, bless him.It was all so fast, I had no time to thank him.So it looks like facial recognition in all types of security situation is going to become the norm. When all the world's airports follow Atlanta it is going to be a lot of vcsels.Xylos

Thought it hadn't refreshed from yesterdays IQE recovery, but see it HAS refreshed and up another chunk..again thanks to IQE, or should I say recovered another chunk.

I found it very interesting to see it reported here from the AGM that the Board believes HSBC will lend it more money over and above the current facility. Recently, banks have been very reluctant to provide finance which one can only identify as totally speculative at this stage of IQE’s growth plans. I would certainly question the Board in more detail on what in the past was described as “balance sheet lending”.

I see the late trades yesterday were:

Does anyone know if CFD's and share bets deals have to be reported? I appreciate in many cases long positions in both will more than likely have been backed by outright purchases.

I posted on the 21 July, the day of IQE’s share price collapse: The shorters will obviously be licking their lips and congratulating themselves on their profits. But if they do not take this opportunity to lock them in now, they could well see them evaporate overnight.

While Black Rock appears to be the only shorter to reduce its position, we must remember you can only buy stock in any size when there are plenty of sellers about. With Rowe and others out there trying to buy at the level the MM’s took the price down to, it is clear there wasn’t a lot of selling. I struggled to buy 250,000 shares under 45p, obviously competing with Sweeny’s purchase of 200,00. And as we can all see the selling did evaporate overnight.

I note Suffernofools chart warning, but I would take no notice of that. As I have said many times here, charts are a very helpful tool but they should only be used as a guide and should not dictate one’s position taking.

I am convinced IQE is in play as a BIG takeover target. If the reports of the AGM are correct and the company did highlight its possible need for more cash and how this might be satisfied by more bank borrowing, this is as good as putting up a “FOR SALE” sign as you could wish.

I would not be surprised to see the share price test 100p in the next couple of weeks as takeover speculation increases. The price to take over the company down here would be a snip for any Chinese high-tech company.

Mark my words (especially Regus), the Corporate Finance divisions of a number of banks will have been sharpening their pencils to take IQE acquisition proposals to a number of overseas corporate clients.

tom
that prediction may not have legs
if the shorters give up the ghost, having made millions, we could easily see 100p.
or rowe could have a surprise for us.
also, i agree with sweeny that iqe will have to issue an update to their last profit warning even if it is replete with caveats about trump's madness.

Sounds eminently sensible Tom. I'm pretty confident that IQE will do well in the next Semi cycle. Just have an exit target price and stick to it!

It all counts ;) It has been a very quick bounce back to 69p, but it was overdone imo to start with, but like your charts show; moving up past low to mid 70s will be hard without IQE showing us something positive in the short term. Trump or the sector could throw a spanner in the works, the only thing that’s certain right now is that nothing is ;)

I’ve never been good at timing exits, only entries so will stick to the 2/3+ year long path 👍

mhassanriaz - for some reason peeps are always keen to call foul on ADVFN. Hey ho, maybe they'll learn about derivatives before posting next time :)

……and the charts i'm trading off that gave me 44-53 (9 pips) 51.5-70 (18.5 pips) You can see how the EMA20 and previous trendline support are converging at around 72/73. Also the 50 and 100 EMA above that offering further resistance. share price gets above that and holds with volume it's a buy. Until then I'll sit on my hands, or look to buy back around support in the high 40's

Against that the Nasdaq looks like it wants to correct downwards again...…..

It did touch 70p for micro seconds. Check on google and you will see high 70p and Low 62.15p. When you type in Iqe share price in google you will see a blue downward arrow click on that on the left hand side you will find quick lows and highs for today.

Looks like I missed an exciting day today! I only noticed the rise when I got notified my long position had closed out as target limit hit at 70pIf the price can get back above 72.5 and hold then looks more bullish but I think on balance a retest lower is more likely in the short term.

Probably old news to many here, but I was listening to a TechStuff podcast on the bike the other day about the 5G revolution. What surprised me was that 5G is being touted as a solution to getting high speed broadband over 'the last 100 yd' from supplier into the home. No need to undergo the cost of fibreing each home to the network, just space a few 5G micro base stations along the street as essentially a superWiFi network and forget about direct cable runs altogether.

Maybe makes more sense in TrumpLand where properties are more widely spaced than in the UK where fibre already has significant penetration (though not in my neck of the woods......).

Well we got our hoped-for Trump/Huawei bounce and US market sentiment gave the share price another shove this afternoon seeing IQE finish up 15% on the day. Well played Dr Sweeney!Wall St press had this to say:"Qorvo Inc. -- Up 7.6% premarket: President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to a cease-fire on trade that will remove some curbs on Huawei Technologies, boosting shares of chip makers that rely on trade and Chinese demand to boost revenue. U.S. chip makers looked set to be the big winners in Monday trading after a thaw in trade relations between the U.S. and China over the weekend.Skyworks Solutions Inc., a 5G specialist, was another big riser in premarket action, up 6.6%, while Qualcomm Inc. and Broadcom Inc. also did well, rising 5.8% and 4.9% respectively."

Dave re your below statement...

“TOF modules with VCSELS has very long legs IMHO and we are only at the beginning of an exponential increase in their use.”

I concur that not only are we are at the early stage of this ramp, (only a small % of the phones in use have this facility), but I suspect we will also see this filter down into many other technology sectors. Using the face (or perhaps even eyes in the future) will become the goto security method, so although price per wafer will drop over time the volume will grow exponentially. Add the coming exponential growth of 5G/Lidar that could last for a decade plus and IQE should be really motoring from 20/21 onwards.

A nice walk :-)

For those that like some information, I don’t think these links have featured here, as I have so many on filter, I don’t know,- mind you those moronic muppets couldn’t recognise a ‘useful’ ‘informative’ post if it stuck them in the eye

Enjoy-AMS is a BIG end customer- directly and indirectly

Some rather nice ‘news’ from AMS and partner, re plug and play 3D sensing , usingVCSELS of course, most interesting is that the modules are scheduled to be bought to market before Xmas :-). Looks to have great traction and will be very appealing to retailers in particular . Shows the march to ubiquitous 3D sensing where ‘security’ is needed is ‘driving’ inexorably on ( couldn’t resist the pun).

By the way , some get confused with mass population or crowd Face ID screening- that’s a software mediated operation and does not utilise VCSELS.

If you are interested in the ‘politics’ of AI ( artificial intelligence), then reading some of the articles here will be entertaining, certainly AI , robotics , nanotechnology etc are going to play an ever more important part in ALL of our lives....whether we like it or not. MEGVII look like a really interesting company

Back to AMS , This is nice too

TOF modules with VCSELS has very long legs IMHO and we are only at the beginning of an exponential increase in their use.

INFO and ADVICE - for those posting links that don’t work- simply EDIT your post immediately and make one of the ‘t’ letters a ‘T’ eg https- edit it to hTtps ....and it magically works :-)

Americans don't need to wait for Wall St to open. They just need to be up and about. IQE is traded on this side of the pond.
