02/9/2018 16:05 | crunk, How long have you been invested in IQE? Try reading this (again!), it might help CS | ![]() cotswoldsparky
02/9/2018 15:08 | Question. IQR bought and paid for their 10 reactors allready. They are cash flow positive. Whats the 40m cash for? I assume its for their 2019 HI reactor orders. When will we hear how many reactors they buying next after these ten? | thecrunk
02/9/2018 13:47 | can u imagine the pressure Finisar is under to "get it going and get it right", and fast? Apple dropped almost 400 Mil. into this "project". We will soon find out if Finisar can stand the heat in the kitchen. Let's just wait and see if the "barriers to entry" are as high as some have preached. | yankeekraut
02/9/2018 12:14 | No Sheep_Herder, I know that from a sales job selling capital equipment we manufactured back in the early 90's in induction heating and various CNC lathing applications. Finisar have a hill to climb IMHO and picking up on Lpavlou's point, IQE also fine-tune their AIXA tools behind closed doors, another massive challenge for Finisar to deal with. | ![]() diplomat65
02/9/2018 11:55 | The key question is whether FIN are going to be able to produce 6 inch wafers that are reliable as opposed to 4 inch. I presume it's taken us a while to get these 5 tools up and running to produce 6 inch wafers to our customer requirements. Each machine is fine tuned to specific customer requirements. I presume 4 if these tools will be focused on supplying LITE with the 5th one supplying android customers. | ![]() lpavlou
02/9/2018 09:46 | Diplomat, lol, you think Finisar are the only company in this industry that have that role? Pretty standard in any form of engineering/manufact | sheep_herder
02/9/2018 09:43 | JamesRowe, yes, agreed regarding reactor build up at other sites, but given there's a 6-12 month lead time on commissioning and qualification, what does that tell you about when that capacity will be online and have any effect on revenues. | sheep_herder
01/9/2018 16:48 | Hi dipSounds like a job for me. I've always been a failure. Especially with my investment in IQE. Whereas my investment in SXX is up 60percent. | ![]() coolhandfluke
01/9/2018 12:39 | Finisar's supply to Apple not a done deal yet apparently. This Finisar recruitment advert was posted by FattyR on the LSE BB today -"Job descriptionOur Quality & Reliability team is currently seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to join their team in Allen, TX.KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions & DutiesDirect the Failure Analysis Lab workflow, including advanced destructive analysis. Review and correct Failure Analysis reports and FA database records. Write work instructions for reoccurring Failure Analysis jobs.Train Failure Analysis Technicians to analyze, recognize and properly report device failure modes.Trend and report failure modes and maintain a failure mode library.Work with quality, design and processes engineering to support root cause analysis.Work with external analytical labs to perform specialized analytical analysis."A clear reminder of the high barriers to entry that challenge entrants to the Compound Semiconductor marketplace, even with a $390M leg-up from Apple. | ![]() diplomat65
01/9/2018 11:10 | Finisar reporting on Thursday so we'll have an update then. They have missed out this year as there's only a couple of months left of large orders. They do have forward sales for next year from Apple so next year will be more competitive and u expect margins to fall, although there will be a ramp of demand from Android. Lumentum have stolen a march on Finisar with our help and so should still keep a large proportion of Apple orders. | ![]() lpavlou
01/9/2018 10:07 | Why I’d much rather buy IQE than Sirius Minerals today September 2018 | taffy100
31/8/2018 18:22 | forgot this (last post) Raymond James analyst (downgrade) last week "Citing industry contacts, the analyst said Finisar will likely miss much of the upcoming Apple Inc. cycle." GLA | yankeekraut
31/8/2018 18:08 | Hope the Finisair facility is tornado-proof. a big one blows thru about once a year, on average. that would be a real shame.... | yankeekraut
31/8/2018 17:58 | according to Finisair "About 90 percent of the equipment is on order, and we’ll bring that in starting in April or May," Barratt said. "We’ll start the line first articles by August and production will get going by October." ....yeah, whatever that means (as he blinks skeptical hippo-eyes)... | yankeekraut
31/8/2018 17:18 | Adventurous, what happened to Sherman Texas?? I hear that Finisar was struggling with 6" wafers in spite of the massive order from Apple but I didn't know that they had given up?? | ![]() jamesrowe
31/8/2018 16:58 | Hyper AI. - why? Finisar still have to buy their wafers from IQE - surely you know Finisar Lumentum Princeton Optronics NeoPhotonics Philips Photonics OSRAM OS are VCSEL / EEL packaging whereas IQE and VPEC are the only two Wafer Foundry's in the world - and latest from IQE is that they now have 90% OF THE BUSINESS!!! | ![]() adventurous
31/8/2018 16:47 | Agree K. I would love to see IQE now take ownership of that narrative. It's up for grabs. The Interim statement was punchy and that confidence should be reinforced by better market engagement. No point being grumpy, introverted or hiding behind NDAs - get some old-fashioned Welsh swagger going and sock it to 'em! | paradores

31/8/2018 15:42 | Think you're right Rich - beer o'clock etc ~:op ...but in all seriousness, I still think the shorts are horribly overweight which could yet result in a nasty spike 'north' on any sort of positive dealflow-news related to these many OEMs. Shorts have simply lost the narrative. | ![]() knackers
31/8/2018 15:14 | Agendas ;) 🐑 As has been said this could be a slow burner still for a while, the base is built, but we may not see the share price pick up much until year end or next year. We probably will never see the % rise again from 20p to £1.80 in short time, but Sheepy is right that if you are happy to leave funds here for 2-10yrs the appreciation will be very meaningful imo. However if you want riskier (from £1 level) and potentially stellar immediate returns obviously look elsewhere (but let me know where, unless it’s VRS and i’m already a large holder there, this is my balance stock ;)) I still think a doubling by next Springsummer is likely as 2020 becomes valued in Right definitely beer o’clock 🍻 | ![]() richardc77
31/8/2018 14:20 | At least we’ve got a lead & got our foot in the door with 20 OEMs | ![]() grity
