mf, Interesting. That has been the view of Kondratieff cycle followers since the end of the last one around July 2016.

If you are interested in bigger macro calls such as whether we are in a bull market or bear market and how to judge, recommend you watch Chris Ciovacco's weekly you tube presentation. His basic view is that NASDAQ was rangebound for something like 1970-1984 and then 2000-2015 and in a massive bull market from 1985-1999, and we should be open to the possibility of 600%+ returns from 2016-2030. He doesn't predict it, just posit it as an outcome based on evidence that we should not dismiss.

Ooops:

Apologies to all.

Saw the date of 20th July and my expectations got ahead of me.

Very sorry.

Regas will punish me for that mistake.

This is important too as it reduces the perception of being a one trick pony dependent on iPhone sales.

Skyworks' forecast-busting results last night should give IQE a nice boost - particularly the uplift to Q4 estimates. Haven't listened to the conference call yet, but there are some nice extracts from the results:

"“Skyworks is on track to deliver another record year of top and bottom line results,” said Kris Sennesael, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Skyworks. “Specifically, for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2018, we expect revenue to be up 11 to 13 percent sequentially as design win momentum transitions to volume production."

“Skyworks exceeded June quarter expectations driven by our broadening market reach, solid execution and resilient business model,” said Liam K. Griffin, president and chief executive officer of Skyworks. “We are gaining first-mover advantage across Internet of Things and rapidly emerging 5G applications with our Sky5™ platform. Leveraging our scale and decades of system-level expertise, we are positioned to capitalize on increasing demand for powerful and complex connectivity engines as the global data economy accelerates.”

I think we have survived the worst and are now in for exciting times. The 100p level held give or take.

It should be good news here on out.

Whatever shorters are waiting on I just don't see it happening. Shame poor dudes.

I for one look forward to 140p at least in the next month.

It’s the conference call for Skyworks which is the interesting aspect, picking out the relevant areas.

Quite a privilege to be able to listen to these guys. Nothing mentioned specifically regarding sensors but 5g revenue is expected to start peaking in a couple of years 2020 with the IoT now growing very nicely. The connected household is seeing 20% plus growth.
There is no impact on business from the trade war but the ZTE business has lowered Skyworks revenue slightly & it will take a number of quarters to get back to par.
Infrastructure for 5g to include base stations is ongoing, & Skyworks have in-house project developments under way which they are very excited about. Capex is running at about 10% annually.
Most of these guys are viewing 5g as an opportunity to increase their value content in mobile devices substantially which is where IQE no doubt see the same opportunities with NIL for instance.

I would say that these companies offer a good investment return the way technology is opening up multiple areas with increasingly complex designs re IoT.

Now the countdown starts for the IQE rns :)

Well, from the 2 tour reports to date, I make it 8 'machines' on full production and 2 still in production testing phase.

Whatever, we still have 2 tours to come today [Fri.20] catering for 10 persons and hammerd2 and Sweeney have got the last 2 tickets for the final tour at 15-00 hours.

Hopefully, we'll get a detailed report from them about the true situation and an upbeat analysis of the TU.

I know that some on here like richardc77 would like to see IQE back to around 80p so that they can top-up their already massive war chests, but I have no further money that I'm willing to 'gamble' here, so please go right ahead and 'ramp-it-to-the-rafters'.

The cavalry is advancing! "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; or close the wall up with our IQE dead!" [Henry V] . GLA!

I'll be disappointed if they only have 2 machines in production testing stage as I was expecting all 5 machines to be on full production by now.The positive side is that the other 5 machines have arrived. This is all skewed to H2 so we may get a negative reaction on H1 figures unless there is more positive news that they expect to exceed H2 expectations
