I'm not a trader, I don't proclaim to be. But this.'newbie' seems to know some more fundamental you don't. Like the fact you can't buy iqe on the US markets. I mean come on. But you know I will head the comment earlier about posting for the sake of it as it ruins the board. Your right whoever you were. I was frustrated just with the inane babble of gonna fly, with zero justification so for a change I thought I might hold him to account and when he is proven wrong he may decide to not spout rubbish again unless he has some ddcent idea why it may do what he thinks. Anyway OK point taken, that's enough from me, I won't even point out at, 4,30 That this didn't rocket massively John.

I'm not saying it won't go up John, I'm saying pointless comments without justification are a waste of space on the board, a waste of time for you to write and a waste of time for everyone to read. I'm all for optimism, so if you have an explanation to back up your forecasts then great, I'd love to see it. And yes long term I'm sure the picture is great for IQE but your quibbles with others after the daily prices are what make this board full of nothing posts and I, along with many other posters, would love for those to disappear. I don't post very often because I generally don't have much that is worth adding, occasionally I'll ask a question and hope for a response, but I won't paste for the sake of posting, and neither should anyone else. This could be a pointless message that all the unnecessary posters ignore but hopefully some will take note...

Yes indeed it can bulltradept,
I did so myself for 15 years and lived of the proceeds but in the end I worked out than the amount of capital I had in use to do that mean't I did not own a property so was spending £15000 a year in rent. Added to that I was missing out on property rises so in the end I decided to put the bulk of my capital in a property and go out to work and invest the rest longer term.

Soon I will be retiring and I will again begin trading with my tax free 25% of my pension fund

Interesting comment from Fool.co.uk see link

"For me, it makes no sense to buy a stock that is still falling, so I’d want to see some kind of base form on the chart and evidence that the share-price trend has reversed..."

Hi ProKartace,

"Bull, the difference is very clear. The physical amount of time needed to short-term trade means that it needs to be an income stream rather than a long-term capital gain which only requires short periods of analysis to make investment decisions and much more likely to be a person who has a career. Therefore I am an investor not a trader.

While you may be technically correct to say a long-term investment is a 'trade' is is not being made by a 'trader' but an 'investor'"

That's a very very fair point. In the end it depends on what you want from the market and the differing time frames.

Not sure I quite agree when you state amount the amount of time needed. It is true it does take a lot of time (thousands of hours of screen time)and you do go through a steep learning curve, and let's be honest, you'll always be learning (perhaps that's why people find it so fascinating). But once you get to a level of 'understanding' that you are happy with, even people with portfolio's only really need to check it weekly I'd argue.

Just one more thing though, of course trading can be a career can't it!
