I'm surprised it hasn't had a bigger knock on effect here as Apple are the largest end user
Still, probably end the day blue as the trend hasn't ended and investors seem blind to fundamentals when the chart shows months of incline, why should it faulter?

that then changes to Oh that was why

The disaster there reinforces the importance to take profits at some points especially in high risk investments such as technology
I feel for the holders but this is a recurring issue with the US shafting our U.K. Companies and forcing huge legal bills on bona fide business at no fault of their own
Knowing that if the co is small it will break them, take Fitbug as an example.

Like IMG jugo?
8 of the last 10 years have also shown April to bring the start of steep declines in the share price of IQE

Because there isn't any requirement for such. Any loss would have had to been reported straight away. So carry on with your rumor mongering and did you open that short I suggested at few weeks back.

Shows it's best to be in those companies that have high barriers of entry.

I'm pretty sure IMG and IQE are unrelated companies and there are BBs for both. Maybe keep IMG chat though the IMG thread is advice to follow.

The schadenfreude displayed by some when others have seen - sometimes large - parts of their investments decimated is more than a little distasteful. If you want to gloat/crow/ridicule then please at least do it in the other place. It's irrelevant and boring doing it here.

True though, beware those companies that rely on only a few major customers

Why haven't iqe confirmed the renewal of Skyworks contract
They did last year

Regarding IMG - massive court battle I reckon - Apple can't be easy to work with

However, good to know that Hammered, but IMG are mentioned in the same breath as IQE by some tipsters.

So I guess you will be able to for example, instantly scan your room with your phone then see products displayed in situ and in real time overlaid on the screen.

I can see big commercial opportunities there.

...the real holy grail is where you can project realistic moving 3d holographics. let me know if you find a co close to cracking that one.

Great post Maxwell :-)
I was obviously wrong that the S8 uses 3D sensing - as Hammerd points out being able to access a phone using a 'picture' rather than the person is ridiculous and Apple will have a field day if the new iPhone has what we hope.

It looks like Lumentum will be the company to watch, this is another comment from their recent CC

We expect 3D sensing to be a significant growth opportunity over the coming years. Last month, we were at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas meeting with customers and the level of interest in 3D sensing was overwhelming.

Overwhelming eh! :-)

The iPhone 8 will beat the Galaxy S8 in one key area

.....The front-facing camera will have a VCSEL (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser)-based DOE (diffractive optical elements) that will support both 3D-sensing and 3D-modeling capabilities.

Thus, the iPhone 8’s cameras might beat the Galaxy S8 when it comes to 3D capabilities that can enable augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) features in apps, while also offering better security.

One of the obvious uses for 3D cameras in a phone is AR and VR, with recent reports claiming that Apple is more interested in the former. Furthermore, a front-facing camera with 3D-sensing powers would also be able to offer secure unlocks based on face recognition. By scanning the depth of field, such a system would be less prone to photo hacks, such as is the case with the Galaxy S8...................

Sorry, o/t.
I tried the Galaxy S7 with the infinity screen.
It looks awesome but I didn't like it in use.
The edges, while not being sharp, are very narrow and less comfortable than the square-edged alternative making you feel as if it's going to slip out of you hand at any time. I took it back after a week.
Still using my excellent Galaxy S4. Waiting for the iPhone8 which, hopefully, will not have an infinity screen or, if it does, has thicker edges than the Galaxy S8.

That's where a depth sensor might come in handy. I think they have used the same solution that they had in the Note 7. Will have to wait for Samsung to get a 3D sensor. Although they do tend to introduce innovation with their Note product, so maybe later this year we will see a replacement for the disaster that was the Note 7.

Seems Samsung isn't 3D sensor for facial recognition relying on software algorithms using the 2D camera. You can get in using a digital picture ! What a fine company.

That's how Singer described them.

"IQE has developed Nanoimprint Lithography (NIL) technology which will allow the group to complete the DFB laser fabrication process in house. Selling “full service” lasers"

poombear - you said, "full service lasers". Our survey said, "ergh errrrghhhh".

IQE sell wafers. Full service wafers, as opposed to base wafers, have the bragg grating and further layers of materials applied ready for the end customer to create their DFBs.
