22/12/2016 13:12 | TW "£7 by christmas (Copyright the IMG thread)" And, if it did, dare I say there may well be some high profile investors who would refuse to accept it expecting more. Then when the opporunity dissapears spend the rest of their lives trashing the CEO at the time for their own poor decision making! | bukko

22/12/2016 09:43 | Shavin, in my opinion VRS is a dog. A company run on debt and acquisition by a Bentley Continental driving megalomaniac. | maroni tony
21/12/2016 23:30 | Sweenoid - do you still own the large holding of SEPU you bought the other day? | effess hay
21/12/2016 18:30 | I'm with Sweenoid on this one. Much As I admire IQE and all it stands for, the scars on my back tell me to stop falling in love with particular shares. A decent take out would enable us to say thank you to IQE and move our money on to another exciting prospect in, say, graphene, such as VRS. Yes £1 per share would be lovely. | shavian
21/12/2016 17:04 | I'm in very long for the long haul ideally, or my own (current) target takeout price at around £1.00 per share (revising upward regularly over the last few months). That'd be transformative to my finances ! M | maxibrit2
21/12/2016 16:03 | A Xmas and new year thought based on reality. I love this company but am investing to make money, therefore before I start I would state that I would welcome any sensible bid In the last 18months 3 of IQE's 'peers' have been acquired in takeovers None of these companies offer the breadth of facilities or the manufacturing capacity that IQE offer, indeed 1 company just made wireless wafers. None carried the prestige that IQE brings to the market. The average buy-out t was x3.5 of revenues was ( varied from x3-x4) So let's do the math using a projected 2016 revenue of £130milliin, 5 % above the current analyst estimates although Edison has increased to this figure representing a 5% increase on previous targets. FWIW I am hoping and indeed expecting this figure to be nearer to £135million Taking 675 million shares in issue and given a takeout at a x3.5 of revenue, we get a takeover price of 67p based on current expectations and frankly a comparison with far inferior companies.my estimate is the BOTTOM LINE and MINIMUM in terms of expectations. This IMHO is the ultra conservative position we find ourselves in as of today Since I expect 2017 to be the beginning of a hugely positive growth phase, my figures above should prove totally inadequate. By the way as of today my sensible bid would be 75p minimum and no one is having any of mine south of that figure. That figure is likely to be revised significantly upwards if my positive case scenario occurs, we are on course , all we need is to retain wireless as it is, continue the trend with photonics - easy!, GAN To take over as the main earner- easily possible and solar to at last reap rewards ( much more likely with the increasing oil price) Go think on that :-) S | sweenoid
21/12/2016 15:57 | The potential is there for a multi-bagger so I am a long term holder. Also when UK firms are taken out the economy loses high value added jobs and we will all be poorer for it. As a case in point if IQE was part of a US multinational then chances are the compound semiconductor cluster would not have happened. Far from being the highly successful service driven economy much hailed by successive governments , we are in danger of becoming a subservient economy, particularly post Brexit if we start agreeing free trade deals with the likes of India. | rogerrail
21/12/2016 14:33 | Hmm. ADVFN posters in favour of a quick buck with a takeover ??% ADVFN posters who want IQE to be a LTBH to transform their portfolios ??% Well there's me and presumably sweetnoid, but I don't think that's a big %. | yump
21/12/2016 13:28 | Wonder what the odds are on IQE being bought out next year? Evens or better i'd imagine. | someuwin
20/12/2016 13:54 | fwiw I have no intention of attending anything that might affect my objectivity in assessing my investments. | yump

20/12/2016 06:00 | It would be nice to see a decent share purchase by the new NED. I dont mean options and I don't mean an LTIP. Hopefully we see something today. It is noticeable that the CEO of phtm spent about 3m buying a substantial amount of shares yesterday. That shows confidence. If the new NED doesn't buy any shares it indicates he is just after his monthly fee and free gain via options/LTIP. Jobs for the boys..... | fft
19/12/2016 21:38 | Steady on, some brown noses are showing a bit here. I'd be interested to know how you have been able to assess integrity sweetnoid. Anyway, it appears everyone is with you now the price is going up. Presumably 'real knowledge' of the semiconductor industry is preferable to imaginary knowledge, so that can only be good. Forgive the sarcasm, but the cheerleading and analyst-style (or is it journo-style?) posts are making me very wary. | yump
19/12/2016 20:55 | I'm a bit surprised by this appointment. Akin to a premiership player joining a minnow. It's not clear how much time he has to devote to us, given his string of other work. Is he being paid or going to help himself to our shares. Would be a good sign if he went out into the market and bought a meaningful amount of shares. Is he there to try and win new customers or put us in the shop window? Time will tell. The share price has been sticking to the current levels, which brings some stability. At this rate Ennismore will be able to slowly buy back their position without further losses. | lpavlou
19/12/2016 18:52 | We shall have a long wait Godfrey Ainsworth is in post for the next 21/2 years before he retiresas chairman The retirement of Godfrey and the excellent Simon Gibson was announced post AGM but takes place after their 3 year tenure finishes - June 2019 I think Dr Ainsworth is an excellent chairman , he is an accomplished businessman and has real knowledge of the semiconductor industry as well as being deeply involved in GAN through being CEO of Seren photonics. I have met him many times and always been impressed by is knowledge and integrity. S | sweenoid
19/12/2016 09:08 | Great news - I am presuming he is chairman elect. We shall have to wait and see. | sspurt
19/12/2016 08:44 | 10/10 for this appointment from me, they stated at the AGM , that they were looking at 1-2 appointments for the long term. This guy has serious pedigree, respect, influence and experience. He would not be joining IQE unless he saw great promise in the company. Super S | sweenoid
19/12/2016 08:18 | Wow! Now that's a serious appointment! Impressed! | tomyumgoong
19/12/2016 08:04 | Hopefully the guy has some serious business acumen. Just what the company needs to exploit the next phase of its development. | owenga
19/12/2016 07:33 | Wow even I am impressed with this appointment. The rose among the thorns | shanieboy01
