Actual experience has quadrupled from issue price this morning. Looks crazy to me so expecting it to come back down quite a lot.

Interesting float today called Actual Experience PLC.

This is what Mark Reilly, head of physical sciences at IP Group, said:

"We see a lot of exciting new inventions at IP Group - several every week – but Actual Experience has one of the most profound and broadly applicable products I have seen. Its value is ubiquitous. There are very few individuals or businesses of any size in the modern world that could not yield great benefit from the Actual Experience product."

There is to much interest from the big City funds for this to go "pop".

When the Fusion deal was being done just think of all those people sitting around the desk writing the offer and placing document......somewhere there would have been the finance director and his book keepers knowing full well what the profits would be otherwise the underwriters would have been frightened off the deal.

That is how the City works - fear and greed - but by the way - they would have said - let the small shareholder have a few and that is what has happened.

Still I like the IPO business and I have taken mine up + more under the excess deal.

All this takes is one or two of the IPO portfolio to take off and the shares will be well past 250/300p........but not for a while!

Be amazed if it doesn't go below the offer price.

Well I've taken up the open offer of 4 odd shares for every 100. Gives me about another 500. Marginal decision though. 165p is about a 6% discount, and I wouldn't be surprised to see IP group shares at, or below that, again.
IP group will buy out Fusion IP, and this should be positive in the long-term.

pka _ not sure what you're saying. Folks can always oversubscribe if they want to - I have. No guarantee you'll get what you request though if the issue is popular.

Can anyone explain the following RNS ?

IP Group Plc has recently announced details of an Open Offer.

The terms of the Open Offer allow Shareholders to buy 4.0377 new Shares for every 100 existing Shares held at the close of business on 22nd January 2014 at a cost of 165p. Shareholders may also apply for any number of Shares in excess of their basic entitlement also at a cost of 165p each.

It seems to imply that you can apply to buy as many shares as you like at
165p. What's the reasoning behind this?

and again in a thin market............they have also been short of a company called MONI and it beggers belief that a huge fund manager should be playing about like this........but no doubt they have their reasons.

Henderson's have reduced their SHORT CFD position hence a small rise in the share price.

Well I can come back in at 165p under the placing and hold the shares for a longish time so as to let IP portfolio mature.

That is how I see it...........

I've taken profit here this morning to allow me to add to TRX. I may have read the chart wrong because I expected this to settle higher after the spike/flagpole [often only a 50% retraction]. Will wait for a while until direction becomes clearer.

SKINWALKER.....I always have two positions in my family fund:

1 For short term - that is for perhaps a quick profit over a 3/6 month period
and
2 For holding with a view of returning - with dividends reinvested - of 25% over a 2/3 year period

What happened with IPO is that the market caught wind that some of its portfolio were going public.

My position 1 has gone but I will buy it back at around 150p (if the price slips again) and that is why I can say that I am in a way a covered bear.

IPO is basically an investment trust and if you read the directors report you can see that they always refer to the NAV. There is no way that this company should bay a dividend - so in my case I can't take that into my calculations - and there is no point in looking at the P/L account as that is made up of profit/losses on its investments.

What we are looking at is the type of valuation given by USA companies when they take over similar businesses.

So which of the shares IPO own could be taken over.....????

A long but truthful answer SKINWALKER.

Cheers anley/skin.

I think you did the right thing by selling the spike.

IPO's holding in TRX has now doubled since September. The share price there rising to 20p today. We need this to happen with a few more of IPO's holdings.

well done, but does that make you one of the short term holders that have been driven out?

skinwalker

Yes I am sure we will but you know I sold out at 190p keeping a few just in case as I thought the price has got in front of itself.

I am hoping that the market has a shudder and then I can buy back my covered bear position.

The work BAMBOO did was very interesting so thanks.
