09/12/2013 08:52 | probably wasnt any appetite £10,000,000 SOLD has a nice ring to it | emergingmarket
09/12/2013 08:49 | Angus may have sold £10m, but he still hold £42m!! He could have sold much more, but didn't. | itchycrack
09/12/2013 08:43 | You just give a slight hint of margin pressure now and then full blown warning in a month. Add a bit of rosemary and then Slam in the Lamb, the chart is telling you what is ahead | emergingmarket
09/12/2013 08:36 | Never in my experience. One sings sweet melodies, sells and then one warns is the usual refrain dear fellow. | emergingmarket
09/12/2013 08:33 | Never bodes well selling such a large amount, unless he knows something the market does not? | quilarvium
09/12/2013 08:22 | Can see why Angus sold £10m worth now, wanted out bad | emergingmarket
09/12/2013 08:01 | Angus McSween has a history of seeing difficulties arising and turning his business in the most profitable direction. I don't have any connection with the industry, but I know that quality of service and integrity are important factors in the service industry. | phil140158
09/12/2013 07:08 | I hear the news is not so good tomorrow . A colleague tells me they have been under severe margin pressure, I do hope they get this sorted out if that is the case. IMO this is getting yo be a crowded place with to many " me too" operators appearing in the sector. I suppose that's why Google is really squeezing out the smaller outfits. | quilarvium
08/12/2013 08:51 | See IOM picked up this week. I'm waiting to enter. See traderdiarycouk tweeted an entry at 218 | birdsedgeuk
06/12/2013 10:33 | tom rob its high gross margin and a fixed cost base which sends this into losses fairly quickly | dewtrader
06/12/2013 10:19 | Dewtrader your 931 "In the data world if the price of hosting falls there is an immediate impact on profits and immediately big bottom line drop. Almost two thirds of turnover would be wiped off if , for instance, revenue was slashed from 10 cents a month to 4 cents" I'm struggling to understand why you think this. If Ford decided to slash the price of glove compartments in its cars but leave the price of its engines and the boot unchanged I'm pretty sure it wouldn't cause Vauxhall to lose two thirds of turnover. Not a great analogy I know but hopefully you can see what I'm getting at. Yes the general pricing trend in virtual hosting is down but what google has done is taken one particular aspect of that pricing and dramatically reduce it in order to grab a few headlines, it does reduce the overall cost of hosting a server instance with them but not by 60%. | tomrob
06/12/2013 10:00 | I also sold my holding at 3.10 glad I did. Otherwise I would be nursing a 15k loss. Dew trader the future does indeed not look rosy and director selling is an omen of bad news to come IMO.Best to steer clear and see how this one pans out. | quilarvium
06/12/2013 08:29 | That was before this news and the directors selling Google Attacks Amazon With Cloud Storage Prices Google's 60% cut in block-storage pricing is a move intended to unseat Amazon's dominance in cloud infrastructure. Angus MacSween intends to sell up to £10 million worth of Ordinary Shares, Sarah Haran intends to sell up to £1,050,000 worth of Ordinary Shares and Richard Logan intends to sell up to £750,000 of Ordinary Shares. | dewtrader
06/12/2013 08:26 | If it was my business, there is no way that I would place my trust in holding all of my data with someone like Google. On the other hand, their action could mean a re-alignment of prices - though in a growing market demand will ensure that prices are firm. From IOM perspective, I am minded of the closing statement on the final results 6 months ago. This will not change quickly. With the high level of revenue visibility we enjoy, we have begun the 2014 financial year in a strong position. I look forward to another exciting year of growth, both organically and through acquisition and look ahead with considerable confidence. | melody9999
06/12/2013 08:25 | Why do you say that mate? I dont make up the accounting standards when it comes to asset impairment and writing off goodwill If you buy a company you pay goodwill In the data world if the price of hosting falls there is an immediate impact on profits and immediately big bottom line drop. Almost two thirds of turnover would be wiped off if , for instance, revenue was slashed from 10 cents a month to 4 cents hxxp://www.informati The previously profit making business would be heavily lossmaking Depressed asset values in financial markets and a deteriorating economic outlook can lead to goodwill impairments cuts in the value of goodwill on the balance sheet as managers revisit optimistic assumptions used in acquisitions. Such write-downs eat into profit. It would lead to sucking up cash and bank covenants possibly being breached if the company had borrowed to buy the asset Watch out for IFRS 3, Business Combinations and IAS 27, Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements Hope that helps | dewtrader
06/12/2013 07:51 | If the prices have to be lowered that is going to have a massive and instant impact on IOMARTs bottom line. Not just that but goodwill impairments on acqusitions Watch out for IFRS 3, Business Combinations and IAS 27, Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements | dewtrader
06/12/2013 07:44 | Gnmartin indeed, all this price storage slashing us indeed bad news for all players concerned. Due to the size and scale of google they can afford to severely undercut competition at a lower price and for a longer price to gain momemtumn in market share. Google are really aiming to make inroads into Europe and IOM is one of Europe's biggest players. If IOM start losing market share to google market share then I would not bode well for the future.Interesting how this will play out. | quilarvium
06/12/2013 00:40 | The FT yesterday (5th) carried a column headed "Cloud price war is bad news for technology industry's old guard". I find it hard to judge if it will affect IOMart, but to quote the FT: "The cost of renting a gigabyte of storage on one of the Google's servers, for instance, has just been slashed from 10 cents a month to 4 cents". Could this (the Google action) have triggered the slide in IOM share price? Nigel Martin | gnnmartin
06/12/2013 00:14 | Agreed Hydrus - and surprisingly Dewtrader we can all read - so when you post an issue once I take a look.... next time I wonder why you need to post the same again..... the third time less than an hour later I just think you are wasting our time and de-ramping. My guess is you were short and that this was a crude attempt to nudge the share price down a little bit more before you closed your position yesterday morning. Dewtrader - you are filtered | melody9999
05/12/2013 18:53 | No offence dewtrader but I think you've embarrassed yourself a bit here today - maybe think before you reach conclusions especially when making accusations? | hydrus
05/12/2013 14:31 | dewtrader, I can't see there's anyway that what you're seeing is "coming from iomart servers". What is likely to be happening is that the AS/AV (anti-spam, anti-virus) that you're using isn't filtering them out in the way that it should (either that or you're not using sucha service). As has been pointed out everyone gets stuff like this sent to them but most of the time it's removed before it reaches your inbox by an AS/AV service. My company has just switched to a new (UK) provider for this which I can recommend. hxxp://www.mailspher I think Iomart, if you order it, use Symantec's service (which itself started as a product from a UK company Messagelabs which Symantec bought a while back). | tomrob
05/12/2013 13:10 | I have already sent it in 921. And I am buying today - too good a chance to pass up. | horizon12
05/12/2013 13:01 | If Dewtrader really is a client of Iomart, you'd have thought he could get the email address himself. | supersturrock |
