I couldn't suggest a figure, but the notes on last years accounts (available in the "Recent News" section on this site) stated that turnover of Ufindus rose by 30% in the year to 2007 to £14.1 million, providing an operating profit of £1.5 million, so you do the math!

Interesting comments about Ufindus, pieman66, for which many thanks. Do you have a view as to the likely sale value of Ufindus - sometimes these sort of businesses sell for 5 or 6 times annual revenues, but I myself am unsure as to what Ufindus is actually turning over at present as I do not believe that IOMART has previously split it out in their group figures.

Agree they are possibly tidying things up before this years figures, etc., and I find that encouraging. I don't think iomart as a whole would be a target, after all they've only just got into datacentres.

However, perhaps they are ready to get rid of Ufindus, and their two directors (who have just resigned from the iomart board). Although Ufindus has generated cash, it has been a very negative factor in the public's perception of iomart. Getting rid of Ufindus, and the two associated directors would probably be a good move in the longer term, although short-term it would hit revenues/profits.

What was the unusual announcement?

It is possible we will see further announcements combined with an upward movement in the share price. I recall the price reached above £1.50 two years ago!

Unusual announcement just made. Concretes my view though that IOM is in the process of arranging itself for sale. Any thoughts anyone? Anyone out there?

Ok so my 70p prediction didnt bear fruit but with more contract news I'm sure that target price will be reached. Interesting that in these tumultuous times that the share price has held well. My longterm bet is that IOM will be taken out for around £1.20+.

Who is the contract with? BT perhaps! Iomart already have a tie up with BT for their netintelligence product. The next few months will be very interesting!

Looks like an excellent contract award to kick start their DC initiative. All upside from here. Remains to be seen whether they start to sell off divisions.

Quite agree mesquida. Need a few of the papers tipsters to understand just how undervalued IOM is and spread the word. If they do get taken out in the not too distant future I wonder what the share price would be.

Contract news might just remind investors that the value of the London data centre alone is probably of the order of 3o million - with IOMART at 45p the current market cap is only 45 million, so in effect the market is saying that the other data centres (Nottm. Leics. etc.) and the original web servicing business are only worth 15 million! Wake up guys!

I would imagine that when the contracts start to roll in that IOM will be taken out by a bigger player. They are probably in the process of finetuning all their different businesses to make them as attractive/profitable as possible.

At least someone else spotted the overhang clearance - Well done The Mail :)

Yesterday's trading:

My break up value of 60p was a minimum figure and I did put the data centre business in at cost to Iomart, I would expect that to change when revenue streams improve as I am sure they will,I hope Whispa and Toles share price values are correct it certainly seems the data centres were a very good buy especially in view of the enormous cost and time it would take to get new centres up and running.
The data centre business could easily be Iomarts crown jewels.

Yep much more than 60p in my opinion - was only the other month that KBC put out a target figure of 116p based on the Telecity float :)

Iomart gained 12 per cent to 53½p as analysts said yesterday's initial public offering of fellow data centre operator Telecity had drawn attention to the former's undemanding valuation.

Andrew Darley, at KBC Peel Hunt, calculated that, on equivalent earnings multiples, Iomart was worth 116p a share. Telecity closed up 20 per cent at 265p, valuing the company at £525m.
