29/4/2014 16:24 | Cross I can't help with most of your questions but no had understood the mobiles will do the everything apart from the crystallisation stage, which would happen at the hub (eg IO2). From someone else's post earlier, IO2 is not a larger plant than the others, not in terms of bpd capacity anyway, but the facilities at the site are larger I believe, which is why IO2 was under consideration for producing some of the easier to manufacture derivatives. IIRC they have quite a large shed/building at that site. Also crystallisation only happens a few times a day or week, it's not constant, hence a large plant can also easily do a crystallisation run for minis. | ![]() naphar
29/4/2014 16:14 | Does anyone know how a mobile will operate? Not in the literal sense of being set up near a suitable SWD but rather in the technological sense. gaudolinium who seems to understand the chemistry of these things wondered how a mobile unit, though designed for extraction from low volumes of high concentration brine, might perform the iodine extraction without the very large towers employed in the IOsorb plants. Recent posts suggest that these mobile units might simply concentrate whatever is contained within the brine, including of course the iodine salts, which would then be shipped to one of the big plants for iodine extraction. How much processing would the mobile unit perform? Would the oil residue in the brine be extracted by the mobile unit? Essentially, though, it would seem that the mobile units require the downstream support of a big plant to do some/most of the processing. Certainly a very useful accessory but not a substitution for the big plants. c | ![]() crosseyed

29/4/2014 15:36 | Yep I agree IO 2was to be the hub as it is a large plant and they were intending to do some sort of manufacturing there. I believe that's right, relying on memory.... | ![]() 1madmarky
