I think there is an issue with how much information the managers of the company have to give at the moment which is why I think they don't appear to know what is happening. These plants seem to be like oil wells in that you never know how much a well will produce until its producing and even then there can be problems that cause production to drop off. Some of these problems can be predicted and some overcome, but it is only once there are sufficient wells that maintenance and drop off in 1 well can be taken up in others that management can make accurate predictions. Thus the company may give fairly wide guidance until they have more plants up and producing, but any analyst will be wise to take the bottom estimate from the company. So perhaps I have been a bit unfair on my criticisms of the company's releases about Iodine production forecasts and they really don't have the information I expected. However, anyone forecasting on this board should also be more mindful that their data may be well wide of the mark.

The production and expansion plans for IOF Chemical are somewhat different and should be the subject of more planning and more accurate forecasting and the management should really be showing how they plan to get revenue and margins up in that part of the business.

I see no point in filtering people for letting of steam, many of us are all in the same boat.
Having watched the price fall yet again this morning to prices I never expected to see, I decided to stop watching and seek therapy in chain sawing a pile of logs. Like a drowning man who suddenly realizes all further resistance is useless, I now feel a sense of complete calm.
I just have a feeling that we may be over the worst. Good luck all.

rogerbridge.....yes I am holding on too, not much choice really because of the price I bought at. As I said earlier, despite all the fear and doubt that has evolved recently, I still have hope that things will recover this year.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised either, if the IIs were kept better informed than us, a common story.

Good luck to you, let's hope we get some reassuring news soon. It's about time!

Worraps, the point was that there is no recent evidence of selling going on by the insiders or institutions....if things were all that bad then I would expect to see some bailing out.

If I was you I would take every crumb of comfort you can get your hands you idiot.

Monts,

"At the September presentation Lance was asked about the "ping" and when it was going to happen. To my amazement, he didn't know what was being asked, ie he was not aware of that term.
Edit
I assume the "ping" is an urban legend, does anyone know what it is/was?"

From post 3000

"IOF (Lance) said at that AGM, to all, they expect the radar will ping within 2 months"

It always amazes me that some people think that because you're a director of a company you have endless money to invest in it and should at every drop! Most directors are like the vast majority of us, with reasonable pay packets but families that absorb that cash, so throwing money at a company, no matter how much belief you have in it is not always an option. Added to that is that unlike the rest of us, if you do invest, when it then doubles you are a villain if you take a little off the top!

I am beginning to find your posts quite tedious. You are obviously very frustrated at the share price decline (as we all are - apart from the shorts). Whilst you have admitted it has been your decision to invest you also seem annoyed with yourself for buying in to IOF in the first place but have also implicated that you have been deliberately mislead by posters on here and the BOD.

I would suggest you sell up and put your money in the post office as the stockmarket doesn't seem to be the place for you and particularly not an AIM stock

So, over a period of 7 MONTHS, you're saying one director bought some stock?

Great. Very reassuring. Thanks for that.

Nice little uptick on NCCL today - NICE - ( not much but nice) - in complete contrast to the incredibly painful lurch down on IOF.

Catch em shares at the bottom - pick em when there down - make sure theres a good chance/ rationale for the share to turn - take the risk - and you pick your share!!!

As Escape always says - 'Protect that capital' - so make the investment amount commensurate with the risk.

Too dall oo!

Interesting that the non core play re. Montana water rights now becomes a pretty important play over the next few months . At 80k bpd this could add between 7-14p EPS on an annualised basis which clearly dwarfs the Numis FY14 EPS (flawed) projection and is probably ahead of Numis FY15 EPS projection as well . Nice to have in the back pocket should any suitor come along I would imagine .

LOL uppomp!

I go for this type of share & still will, BUT...

Get in at the BOTTOM/START of the move.

These are my buying prices:

CBUY 11p
EME 7p
IOF 43p
MOS 6p
TCG 22p

What if they double? Discipline says sell half, ride the rest & buy the next.
What if they've taken off? Move on & wait for the following one.
Just patience & a hard nosed look at the whole plot.
That's what I've learned at near retirement age, & I've had my share of write-offs during this as well, but overall it works fine.
& if they then bomb, you've had your money back & then some...

P.S. IMHO IOF will bounce back - there's so many walking wounded amongst the competition that IOF is worth maybe 200p/share to one of the big Chilean companies for its' patented kow-how alone if push came to shove...

PING. Sadomasochist word for excruciating pain. I believe its exponents are buying in here. Cheaper than paying for Miss Whiplash I hear.

Monts12- you can search for the word "ping" on the search thread bar at the top of the page. Be warned, you will need a strong stomach to read most of the posts though.

Mm3, no one of a group created at the same time. Will come on as positive , get followers then turn negative. Part of the same crowd. Look at date started
Edit Must say though I agree with his sentiments, but very difficult with this level of drop. Reminds me of the adage of catching falling knives!
