Nev, I was in at about 9p a while back, saw it rise and drop back slowly so ended up selling at break even point. Had not looked at it for a while, didn't realise it had fallen so much, was a bargain yesterday!!

Anyone in ATUK yet, I was thinking about it last week they looked cheap having come down quite a bit over last few weeks, but a big rise today, I think it might be worth waiting now for a retrace, there is bound to be some profit taking after today

I try not to get complacent on the fundamentals, so look at all I can find that could feature in the future.

It's easy enough to say, but it's only xx ppm and costs would be too high to be commercial. Spelt out, it just shows to those that may wonder, just what extraction from some sources would entail.

Some have turned to recycling iodine, but as we know, IOF say that is expensive on opex, but must have enough margin left to make it viable.

On future uses I just hope to show future demand sectors that are likely to keep the sector running strongly.

We have seen recently the mention of an iodine based system replacing Platinum in cat converters.

Then the more recent Lithium Iodine batteries, that are far better and safer than those currently in use. Such batteries could make electric cars a viable option, but will surely feature in all standard lithium batteries.

Then the many uses in experiments with Graphene.

Iodine seems to be a a bit of a gem for uses in certain technology, thus it's use should grow over time not diminish.

Some companies know this, and have sought to improve their exposure to the market. In more recent times Toyota Tsusho and Sirocco, however both of those took a wrong turn and have high opex in Chile with growing problems.

beeezzz

Commercial iodine is scarce. There is plenty of iodine in the sea but it's rather expensive to extract.

io2 brine v the sea means io2 can produce in 1 week, what would take 140 years to extract from the sea at the same bpd rate.

About 1.2kg per week which would put the opex levels quite high ($75k per kg) based on IOF opex and near $200k opex per kg for some Chile guys.

This maybe a stupid ?, would it be viable to have IOF iodine process used for desalination plants, would save pumping it back into the sea and destroying the environment.

Said with a bit more sincerity neddo, now you know she's a girl.

I love it when assumptions (quite reasonable given the % of male advfn users) are flipped upside down. This isn't the first time the collective male users have been flummoxed by a gal :).
