Why is that perfect?

The ND water commission have been going on about the struggle to keep the oil industry supplied, hence the emergency legislation.

So when the boom kicks off ND will need some help. Water can be supplied from Montana, all you need to do is provide the evidence to show the need.

That's what Ames is trying to do on one permit, but the original permit is highly suspect which is why I think they are taking him to a hearing, so they can revisit some old 'evidence' supplied by him.

So going on an earlier post about the market not looking beyond the end of it's nose, The water boom that they thought was in play hasn't even begun to start yet.

We have been mentioning slick water for months, various companies were reporting success and now it seems a Bakken slick water boom is going to kick off in 2015.

The Bakken is full of emergency use permits where irrigation water is used to sell to the oil guys. Come next summer when the irrigation water is heading to the fields, water demand for fracking looks set to take off. Perfect.....

An easy read re slick water (2nd Dec 2014)

Well this recent report suggests there is going to be a big shift in the Bakken to the old method of slick water. It uses a lot more water but it's cheaper.

I had been working of a current average of 50k barrels per well.

The report suggests current wells use 60k to 80k barrels for a frack. I've noted plenty of references of up to 2 mill gallons.

The above is 2.5 mill to 3.35 mill gallons. Slickwater uses typically exceeds 4 mill to 8 mill gallons.

8 million gallons is 190,000 barrels.

Given all the reworking that will accelerate water use, it seems the area is due to see a huge increase in water use next year and beyond.

I had been wondering with oil price drops whether the likes of Oasis would stop the experimental techniques in favour of recently proven completion methods that have returned results. Within those trials was slick water (high volume water fracking). They found it increased production by 35 to 50 percent.

They then decided to do about 20% of their wells using the slick water method in the Bakken and to keep trialling the other methods.

Since the oil price drop here is the new strategy.

Because Oasis intends to complete many of its 2015 wells using slickwater methods, it has rescheduled some completions previously slated for winter months into the summer of 2015. Performing slickwater fracks is more efficient and cost-effective in the summer due to the need to heat water in the cold winter months of North Dakota. Oasis still intends to complete 70 to 90 percent of its 2015 scheduled frack jobs.

So what does that mean.

Slick water can use 250,000 barrels plus which is around 5 times the average.

Oasis are doing 70 to 90% of their intended fracking in 2015. It sounds like they will all be slick water. So they will need 3 to 4 times the water that they would have used for the normal frack method for their entire previously planned schedule.

The Oasis slick water move just shows that the industry is starting to commit to that type of completion with only a handful of wells completed that way over the last few months.

Depends on how long you expect to live. I give myself another 20 years.

I see the present low share price as an opportunity to buy. The need for iodine will not go away and a low cost producer can hardly go wrong. No point kicking yourself every time the share price falls though.

The lesson you maybe should learn is that a small cap stock does not go up in a straight line. It is not greed to take the long view, it is merely sensible.

Furthermore, a stop loss may be a better strategy if you get so upset about it.

Fresh

I saw 25 unread and knew exactly why the thread must be busy.

So I'm Sancler. But I think Sancler is Macca lol. So that makes me Macca which makes me .......... the list is long.

Macca is the only one I've ever known to look up the Culbertson water depot application in great detail and desperately sought out potential negatives.

No way could I ever confuse the hearing as the 2nd hearing examiner over-ruling the first hearing examiner. Denise Biggar did the preliminary determination to deny and it went to a hearing. I think I have mentioned her once or twice before.
