22/10/2014 18:24 | I don't think anyone has given Gaurenteed, we are all dreamers! | magwich
22/10/2014 18:19 | Kat agreed - that goes without saying. Just like I find these boards useful (25% ) of the time from well researched posters which helps understand the business model and market complexities further however I would never buy more on the back of over enthused ramps nor will I sell my holding on the back of a couple of posters ( who have about a dozen avatars) spouting repetitive nonsense .there are only a select few shares out there that offer long term potential and gains but that comes with risk and volatility and unfortunately moronic posters lurking and making an appearance every time the share price declines by a penny on a daily basis. | stevo2011
22/10/2014 18:17 | Agreed kattagaru - investing is 'by definition' risky... otherwise everyone would be bazillionaires... if you want safety then invest in FTSE100 divi-payers... like BP or Tesco!!!... or put your money in banks... like Northern Rock or IceSave!!! There is no guaranteed safety apart from holding hard cash... and then you face guaranteed inflationary loss!!!It's a jungle out there :-o | cyberbub
22/10/2014 18:12 | Katt Jamonit asked a direct question as below: "So my question to you is this. If you were told to gamble a months salary on a 6 month and a 12 month share price prediction, or be shot, what would your predictions be? What would you bet your months salary on?" Some people, myself included, answered, many chose not to. I don't see that as giving investment advice, I see it as giving a view as requested. Others chose not to answer. Jamonit wasn't asking people for investment advice, or for judgements on his/her situation, but simply asked what price you would gamble on if you had to! | naphar

22/10/2014 08:35 | An interesting read re water and the US. | superg1
21/10/2014 23:06 | The thing I like about iodine v water, is iodine involves a handful of producers with very limited options for anyone to enter the market. It will be in need forever, and will probably see it's growth path continue as it has dome for many years. New technological uses keep adding to the demand. On the water side re oil services and oil companies, 100's are in play and it could have many twists and turns. The rights swap and discharge permit do add to an interesting situation though. IMO take a lump sum, take a cut of revenue for water sales and crack on adding more pain for Chile. | superg1
21/10/2014 22:01 | Ahhhh dear!! Goodnight. | bobbyshilling
21/10/2014 21:57 | Yes we do, we haven't enough capital what with the debt pile to erm... do it alone. It's always been a problem here, undercapitalised and unprofitable. | arlington chetwynd talbot
21/10/2014 21:46 | But, we don't need to sell! | bobbyshilling
21/10/2014 21:37 | It's only worth what someone will pay. Personally I doubt it will cover Stena's debt, so we have a problem. Banksy? | arlington chetwynd talbot
21/10/2014 21:35 | It's worth far more than £5m. We can earn (at least) double that from water in the first year of it being up and running. 80000 x (at least) $1 per barrel x (at least) 300days = $24m = £15m Even half that is worth far more than £5m! .......... Just in the first year! | bobbyshilling
21/10/2014 20:34 | $20m sounds like cloud cuckoo land. | monkeymagic3
21/10/2014 19:19 | I'm not expecting more than 5million, it's only one permit I'm assuming. Keep atlantis back for when the normal water is fully appropriated, it will be worth more then. GLA | 1madmarky
21/10/2014 18:36 | Dont forget the impact a cash injection of say $20 mil will do for the share price by Christmas. If the BoD are already in talks with potential JV partners and the desire to get the depot up and running asap, it is quite possible that a partnership has already been lined up by december 1st, with payment to come soon after. | bogg1e
21/10/2014 17:37 | SG thanks. Believe you are saying that there are 6 or so candidates for JVs across iodine, water and helium which sounds very good news 8-}.Iodine and water I would hope for before EOY: think we deserve a Xmas present :-) | engelo
21/10/2014 15:56 | Meb: Effectively all brine must end up in SWDs. IOF plants receive brine stream, extract iodine and pass the brine on to the SWDs.Plenty of high iodine SWDs that have not been processed by IOF and these would be available if required at some future time. | engelo
21/10/2014 14:27 | Thanks Engelo . Sorry just need to understand some basics here - Is all the brine stored in SWD's or is some ( eg excesses ) retained in the disused well ? If so how feasible is it to get that out given that over time the Brine may get absorbed in the surrounding ground. | meb123
21/10/2014 14:22 | SG, surprised to hear you say about JV on the iodine front. IOF have said in recent rns that they want to become world leader in iodine production. Not saying iodine JV won't happen of course, just surprised to hear you say it now. | bobbyshilling
21/10/2014 13:39 | Good luck cyberbub; the indications are that these first set of JORC numbers should be good, so we might see a share price spike up if they are. | bobbyshilling
21/10/2014 12:44 | Bobbyshilling thanks for the GWMO tip, bought a few, looks like it might be breaking out today if the seller is gone...No advice intended of course | cyberbub
21/10/2014 09:47 | Meb briefly: 1. IOF have a large number of exclusive contracts including all the major oilers in the iodine rich regions, not just Chesa. As SG has pointed out the lifetime of the typical well is ca 30 years. 2. Closed SWDs would be available to IOF and they would 'simply' select the best and pump the brine out themselves, probably using their new mini technology. | engelo
21/10/2014 09:38 | SG re 26194 could you clarify please? I would hope for JV on iodine once production rates visibly stable, ie November and JV on water post Dec 1st. Helium whenever. But just don't get "Water one of about half a dozen I could name for all 3 sectors." | engelo |
