Erik, good luck with the short mate, I am in here for the long term, couldn't care less about short-term trades: 70& of you lose money, but yet 100% of you think you can beat those odds. House always wins, long term always trumps short term.
I have 2/3 of my investment as a long term hold here, and trade the other 1/3rd.
Any slides are a chance to increase my holding, so thanks for making that happen :)

nemesis, we may be right or wrong. It's about making some money isn't it ?
The fundamentals and technical set-up point to a lower share price (much lower)

This is a free BB - I get the impression most posters say a lot of things to justify their views. For the serious investor using real money - they are aware shares can go up or down to allow a lot of churning / short term trading (gambling ).Airlines are in a difficult place but the share prices reflect these bad times. Yes, shares can go much lower or but things will get better within 6-months and markets will rise once Covid-19 is well understood and treatments proven.Enjoy the volatility ; the IAG share price could tank to below 100p or rise above 350p or both, all within 3-6 months.

When Monty goes quiet (or is trashing the company), usually he's been caught short or waiting to buy long. You know when he's long, suddenly the share is the best thing since sliced bread. So he's basically missed the boat on a whole load of different shares, and because a lot have gone up 30%+ over past week, he's afraid to go long.

The shorters are in deep do-do and they know it.
They will all be closing tomorrow for the weekend too, more fuel for a continued rise tomorrow :)
This has a long way to go yet...a bit of turbulence on the way, but I am holding for the big gains.

I guess the question is with cost cuts anticipated and if there is a pick up in airport traffic , will it be enough to make a profit this year..?
Definitely no...what the year after is that on the cards?

Do not forget, a loss this year and cash reducing by the day.

IAG know that, this is why they sold their aircraft to raise more cash

I am sure IAG will do all it can to avoid any bailout or cash raise.

Also do not forget convertibles bonds are due..but have some time.

BOND FINAL TERMS

Following the launch of the issue of two tranches of senior unsecured bonds (the "Offering") earlier today, IAG has now set the final terms of the Bonds. The aggregate offer size was fixed at EUR 1 billion.

-- The first tranche due 4 July 2023 will have a principal amount of EUR 500 million (the "Series A Bonds").

-- The second tranche due 4 July 2027 will have a principal amount of EUR 500 million (the "Series B Bonds", and together with the Series A Bonds, the "Bonds").

The Bonds will bear a fixed rate of interest of 0.5 per cent. and 1.5 per cent. per annum annually payable in arrear for the Series A Bonds and Series B Bonds, respectively.

EasyJet to slash staff by 30% as it warns business won't fully recover until 2023.
IAG in deeper trouble due to loss of business fared and £11 bn new planes comtracts. 3 years of huge losses taken out of shareholder hides imho.

A lot of conjecture about this move The goal of IAG - specifically for BA is to put all employees on the new fleet contracts. Some thing they have tried to do in the past. The "trouble" they are facing is the perfect excuse to do this They will fire and re-hire ...

Dow getting to high levels again. Up another 553 to 25538
Seems to have lost touch with realty.

Something else going on here.
Maybe the money printing by central banks is trashing paper money.
A sort of asset price inflation.

Maybe the markets are not going up, but paper money is going down.
Inflation measure is bogus.

Massive money printing and zero interest rates.
Some thing will have to give.

The key question I would ask is which airlines are going to survive They are not all going to survive - and some have already gone bust ! The other question is was he wrong to buy them in the first place Delta is up 25% since 14% of May - so missed out
