"The support that we're preparing here is for a limited period," Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said of the deal, under which Germany is buying new shares at the nominal value of 2.56 euros apiece for a total of about 300 million euros.
Berlin, which has set up a 100 billion euro fund to take stakes in companies struck by the coronavirus crisis, said it plans to sell the Lufthansa stake by the end of 2023.
"When the company is fit again, the state will sell its stake and hopefully ... with a small profit that puts us into a position to finance the many, many requirements which we have to meet now, not only at this company," Scholz added.
The shares were up over 7% @ 8.5 euros

The biggest fear expressed by a consultant treating virus infected patients at the Royal London, was that any notable relaxation on the lock down could set off a second wave of infections. The elderly, whose lives are at the greatest risk having caught the virus, are going to decide for themselves on whether to act on relaxation of social distances; etc. This pandemic is far from over and could revisit us in the Autumn.

A good investor knows when to take profits, when to sit on the sidelines and when to re-invest.

In hindsight, it looks like:
Take profits last year.
Sit in sidelines until recently.
And, IMO, re-invest lightly and tactically from April, and more general since yesterday.

All just my view. And there are good and bad companies out there, but do your research and you'll reep the fruits of you investments.

consumer poll on lockdown - where's consumer confidence?

"When it comes to plans to ease the restrictions in England, more than half (54%) thought the controls were being lifted too quickly, with just 13% wanting lockdown lifted faster."

Told you Monty missed the long boat to China. Will be a nice cruise for 5 or 6 years, once we finished navigating these straits.
I have many long boats to enjoy the vista from.

Logan - would not say useless. This is all about minimising risk - if they can stop 50% that minimises risk. If people wear masks it further reduces, if they can increase the air filtering it further minimises.I do not think they can remove risk but can reduce it to a manageable level. That along with "passports" that indicate who has antibodies. It all adds up and at some point will get to a level where a decision is made to accept the risk left.I read a report that indicated catching on an airline was very low compared to ferries, cruises etc. Not exactly sure why but something to do with air filtering, people less mobile etc. I was surprised

Covid 19 is far worse than Ebola ever was/is.

Even though you are 35% likely of dying when have Ebola, Ebola is so much more difficult to transmit and catch then Covid 19 which is so easy to transmit and what makes it worse then SARS, that 50% of people with Covid 19 are asymptomatic which means these people show no symptoms while at the same time are able to transmit the Covid 19 on to others.

Therefore reading a persons temperature at an airport is all but useless when trying to stop the transmission of Covid 19.

Everyone starting to realise that Ncov isn’t actually evil Ebola but more Nasty Flu. Future, less old unproductive people costing the state and more healthy young people around consuming expensive holidays with all of the new found inheritance.
