These should push on towards 567p today.Pilot vote will be known next few days, if yes, I'm 99% sure it will be.Then push on towards 603p with the Santa Rally which starts around 13th December, after tories win.

Looks like drop is currently 11-12p, pretty much in line with the 0.14 euro divi.
So nothing to be gained by buying back just now. Indeed, I probably should have held on, but very happy with my profit.

In terms of the General Election polls, the Big One has just been published - the MRP poll by YouGov. I note also that Skybet have just stopped taking bets on the main result.

Bad news for the Commies and the "gimme, gimme" hand-out merchants - but great for most companies with UK exposure including IAG and all decent capitalists in general.

Boris Johnson Set for 68-Seat Majority According to YouGov Poll

By Jess Shankleman
November 27, 2019, 10:15 PM GMT

Poll using technique that forecast 2017 result predicts win
YouGov forecast: Tories 359, Labour 211, SNP 43, Lib Dems 13

Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party is on course to win a large majority of 68 seats in the U.K.’s Dec. 12 election, according to a YouGov poll which used a technique that more closely predicted the 2017 election than standard surveys.

The Tories are on track to win 359 of the 650 seats in Parliament, a gain of 42 on the last election, while Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party is set to win 211 seats, a loss of 51, according to the poll. Of the smaller parties, the Liberal Democrats are set to win 13 seats, while the Scottish National Party are on track to win 43 seats, YouGov found in a report carried in The Times newspaper in London.

Through a process called Multilevel Regression and Post-stratification, or MRP for short, YouGov aims to identify different types of voters. Then the company works out how many of each of these voter types there are in each electoral district to predict the results.

In the 2017 election, YouGov’s MRP poll predicted that Theresa May would lose her majority, at a time other polls were suggesting her Conservatives would secure a big win.

In UK, if you have sold and subsequently buy back within 30 days, you pay CGT on your selling proceeds minus your repurchase cost. UNLESS IT’S IN AN ISA (or you remain below the CGT threshold).

If you still hold right now, you will get the divi, and you will pay tax on that. UNLESS IT’S IN AN ISA (or you remain below the tax free threshold for divis).

1 - you won't get the dividend now obvs is ex div tomorrow
2- if you sell and buy within 30 days you have to pay different tax

Why can you not sell and buy back?

Simon, I may be misinterpreting your comment but if you sold today (ie. no longer hold the stock) you will not be eligible for tomorrow's dividend. If you buy stock tomorrow you will not be eligible for the dividend payment on 02 December. The next dividend payment date after December 2019 will be July 2020.

chiefbrody..will do the same as will others if we stay below the XD 10p fall into next week...I see the Institutions will want to hold and even add through their year-end holdings. The IAG rating is way behind the curve...hopefully the BALPA pay agreement endorsed/recommended ballot will be a further benefit...we shall see. Prefer to hold ahead of XD in my ISA account.

I have, for once, put my money where my mouth is and sold.
If I can buy some/all of them back at a profit ex-div I just might.
If not, I'll just cry myself to sleep.

135m passengers a year, sometimes things go wrong.

All we know shareprice going to 725p next year in my view and we get paid very nicely holding for that target.

Quickest payer from ex div to getting the dosh, 4 days lol.
