From the VOD forum: Montyhedge 12 Feb '19 - 14:08 - 35229 of 35230 - Just bought some IAG (British Airways) look cheap to me, no stamp duty to pay, yippee. Vod 140p trading level, if they hold could be the turning point.

Lol, must admit something quite satisfying, knowing the Chancellor does not get 0.5% of my trade.

A trip down memory lane...montyhedge 10 Jan '19 - 06:35 - 5212 of 5349 "Of course shorting, I think 565p if they bid and oil goes back up. Either does not happen then shareprice should go up. That's what makes a market, bulls and bears. But these idiots like Watfordhornet, take it personally, lol."

Full year results 28th Feb has you know, I expect record revenue and profit, nice increase dividend. Buybacks would be a bonus. I see these well over 700p with a single figure p.e still, forecast p.e 6.5 seems incredibly cheap, double shareprice to 1325p and p.e still only 13 ish.

Thanks makes sense, figures shortly should be superb. If buybacks resume 775p in my view.

Yippee I love BA, spent my Avios 148,000 with companion ticket, Two First class return tickets to New York.

I agree but that hasn't happened and as they form part of the 47.5%, it won't happen.
The new restrictions only apply to shareholders buying after Tuesday, who exceed the 47.5% .

Well Qatar, would not like 21% of non voting shares, lol.

Monty.......not at the moment , as they probably form part of the 47.5%. In addition, I believe that Qatar may argue their shareholding qualifies as EU because it is held by a European entity. Would need to do a bit more research to check this though.

What's the article all about DM, about force sellers of shares if you don't live in EU on a no Brexit deal. Qatar own 21% will they have to sell, lol.

Alphorn ....I am guessing but if you are not able to buy IAG shares as a non eu national , unless a non eu national sells them, as the ownership is capped at 47.5%, will this make them more valuable or not ?
I am guessing it will but be interested to hear others views.
Of course, they will still have to justify UK nationals as EU nationals after Brexit, or they will fall into the 47.5% bracket.

Of course, if UK nationals start to sell in any number prior to Brexit, it could force IAG to initiate the restrictions on the existing 47.5% non eu national shareholding.

Found it !
The FT

Quote:
"But it also said it would still count UK investors as EU shareholders for its tally, apparently even in the event of a no-deal Brexit, when the UK leaves the bloc without an agreement".

IAG said UK investors “are not and will not be subject to the restrictions on share acquisitions . . . unless IAG notifies shareholders otherwise. IAG has no plans to issue such a notification.”

British Airways owner puts cap on non-EU investors. IAG, owner of British Airways, has put a cap on the number of non-EU investors who can own its shares, in a move that highlights problems Brexit could cause it. (FT)

Share price impact???

But Monty, when passengers 'no show' for flights, they don't have tome to release seats online for avios .
At what time prior to a flight departing would you think it prudent to release seats for avios , rather than keep selling them until the last minute.

Revenue management at BA are very very good at what they do. They are there to maximise the returns for BA and giving seats away doesn't do that. That is why seats are more expensive the closer you get to departure date.
Book early is the best way .
I repeat, if you don't like avios, don't collect them.

Totally agree but when a plane is a third full, release more Avios seats for that flight.
