Hello Im seeing blank posts again. Is that our dear lost soul Ron trying hard to get attention again. He does seem so aggrieved and bitter down and his posts always revealed a guy in need of self empowerment as has so little in real life. A need to be looked up to. Sadly it seems he gets his fix from a board of strangers. Hope you get the help you need Ron if you are reading this. Maybe start by asking yourself why you are like you are .

Contd. You cannot compare flying for Ryan Air to BA and again showing your total lack of understanding. Yes they can get promoted sooner but their conditions pay and general opportunities is miles away. It's like comparing a waiter at Butlins to The Savoy. Just ask a Ryan Air pilot if they prefer to fly for BA. Lastly are you and Ron need to feel empowered. Ron in particular clearly gets a feeling of importance posting on here . V sad indeed. Again further inaccuracies and misleading info. BA obviously recruit fully trained pilots. Errr didnt say otherwise but entry level is tougher than others. Your knowledge of how a business is run I'm sorry is terribly naive as state tye obvious but don't seem to understand why. They didn't treat their pilots badly. They did what all airlines HAD to do when their schedule was wiped out after covid. It's a business first not a fun in the sky job. BA happened to op a larger schedule than most hence more pilots offloaded. Isn't rocket science but you really struggle with the business needs. Some come

The Times "Airlines keep soaring"

A brief note on Ryanair "The airline will open a second education centre in Rome next month , able to train up to 4,800 Pilots every year"

That's how you do it and make millions in the process.

There is a huge shortage of Pilots and even more for Captain rated. BA needs Pilots today just like ALL other airlines.

When cornered usual nonsense from "spitfire"
BA hire their Pilots like most other airlines, fully qualified and usually trained at Oxford Aviation costing wannabe pilot £100k+
Candidates go through several interviews and tests then get hired or not.
As for quality of Pilots recruited it depends on need of the airlines. If there is no need for Pilots then if you are super pilot you ain't getting in.

BA unfortunately have a habit of treating their Pilots badly. They fired Pilots in mass during covid then tried to rehire them at much lower pay.

As for Pilots wanting to join BA just as many are leaving ASAP.

Lastly to be a captain at BA you will need to have been flying with them at least 10 years ,where as at Ryanair it can be as low as 3-4 years .
Which means you're on Captains salary 6 years sooner then a BA first officer.

Jeeez . They do it as they want pilots trained to the highest standard. Their entry level is higher than most other uk based airlines. I'm very surprised you don't know. There are many pilots I know that fly for Ryan Air Easy etc who tried BA and didnt get in. Think about it. Most pilots want to fly for BA re better pay and security. So most try BA but dont cut it.

You do know a trained pilot does eventually retire, become a captain or move company meaning a standard amount of recruitment is required? All we are seeing is a return to pre covid levels of churn.

"BA have recruited cadets for years"
"Nothing to do with Pilot shortages"

Why would BA run courses to train commercial Pilots costing 100's of thousand per cadet taking at least 2 years if they did not need those Pilots.

To you, to me!
8 votes, so I ask the group to come forward and name yourselves, lol lol lol, or is it one halfwit with multiple accounts. lol lol lol, so jealous, lol.
As for a ROS Flt Lt pilot earning 50k, when the Sgt that services the aircraft is on more… makes your drivel seem funnier than it should do.
Santa isn’t real, either, regardless of what you’ve read.
At least try and be knowledgeable, shoots/ London et al.
lol lol lol, so jealous, lol lol, bless.

Must add your post got 8 tick ups. That speaks far far more than any post you could possibly read and makes it very clear that vast majority see through silly Ron. He clings on to Whats for support but in doing so undermines him too. Sweet dreams all ... further rise next week I expect. GLA

Not seen as blocked but absolutely no surprise from our resident Sun reader. He upgraded from The Star recently lol lol. Oh one more for dear Ron LOL. He trys soooo hard to sound mildly intelligent tho so full marks for effort.BA have recruited cadets as part of their recruitment policy for years. Nothing to do with pilot shortage. The States and Asia have a shortage for sure. Not at BA. Can just cherry pick how they wish and ofcourse they pay more re London expenses. Those two do provide such entertainment zzz

Absolutely hilarious you posted that article but didn't bother to read it stated the military pilots were on 50k and can double their salary to 100k. Banged on about your precious article yet you have the number completely wrong. BA if they were clever would sponsor the training of cadets and then keep them on a very limited highly bonded contract. TUI are doing it. Ryanair offer no such thing. You pay £30k to them (not technically them but a lot of back scratching goes on) for a 737 type rating and leave when you want. Which then means they need a lot more training captains than if they just bonded people. They'd then have a lot more people ready for command upgrades than they do because they all (a lot) look for pastures new. BA aren't known for having the best culture. Many have left EZY and then found themselves heading back.

Oh, and 24000 applicants is on par, it's not anything out of the ordinary. The fact they are actively pursuing RAF pilots already on 100k with an offer to double their pay... as co pilots will end up being divisive and inflationary. Not a wise move.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The Utopia our resident idiot lives in is very amusing. There will be a contentious pay award this year, that's for sure. The US is still swallowing experienced aviators with green cards and higher pay.

Reason to launch academy is simple , there are not enough qualified pilots joining BA. It’s also difficult for them to recruit Captains as policy dictates NO direct entry for Captains . I don’t see many qualified Captains joining BA as CoPilot’s.
Also BA is Heathrow based so living expenses in or around Heathrow is more expensive then say Stanstead for Ryanair - Jet2 .

Another reason for cadet training is it is CAA Licences. Due to Brexit Pilots with EU licenses sooner or later will not be able to fly aircraft based in GB. BA can see the problems of recruitment going forward and is addressing it.

However it can be profitable if it’s done right as with Ryanair . They run courses for hopefuls and promise them an interview at the end of qualifying. Ryanair charges for the course and bond them for 5? Years. It’s a good way of having steady stream of new entry pilots and gives Ryan air another source of income.

Any views Rongetrich

Today sees BA multi million commitment to their Pilot Academy launch which was last in situ in 2000. On same theme last year saw over 24000 applications from the pilot community. Shows the advantage I guess over many others having such a strong worldwide brand. All good

Good article from end of Feb. Take away for me was 92 per cent booked for 1st Q and 65 re 2nd. On the basis late bookings take up a fair volume its further evidence how strong their recovery is going. GLA and happy Wednesday. https://www.forbes.com/sites/roystonwild/2024/02/29/iag-shares-rise-on-news-of-record-profits-no-dividends-yet/amp/
