On the day of the results, they will definitely announce more buy backs and also a possible return to Dividend. If this happens then the rise will continue. There is only one way and it is certainly up up up . GGood luck all. This only my opinion , do your own research for your own satisfaction. |
Not sure re below. One month through the buyback and the Shares are up 50p!2 more months of the buyback left yet. Obv this share price performance can't go on forever but what price the shares when this current buyback ends (the same time as the FY results).Depends how many nervous peeps like me get itchy fingers! |
Does it appear that Qatar is receiving preferential treatment here , or am I mistaken ? They are having their own shares ' bought back ' , while maintaining their percentage shareholding in IAG. Other shareholders are not being offered the same financial benefit .
Am I mistaken, or will Qatar now end up with retaining the same shareholding % in IAG for a much lower price than other shareholders, as Qatar has had their own shares re-purchased by IAG using shareholders profits ? |
So , in 2020 IAG issued approximately 3B new shares in a £2.5B Rights Issue.
The question I have is this:
How long will it take IAG to buy back those 3B shares at a rate of approximately €350M every 3 months or so ?
The RS states "Maximum number of shares to be acquired in the market: up to 319,447,282 ordinary shares, which represent 6.426 per cent. of the Company's share capital as of today's date (8 November 2024)."
I also note from the RS the following, which is interesting " Qatar Airways Group Q.C.S.C. ("Qatar Airways") has agreed to participate in the Programme on a pro rata basis so as to maintain its current aggregate stake in IAG (25.143% of its share capital). For such purpose, arrangements have been entered into between Qatar Airways, GS and MS pursuant to which Qatar Airways has agreed not to sell IAG shares in the market during the Programme but instead to sell to GS and MS, as applicable, on each trading day during the Programme (for on-sale to IAG) a number of shares proportionate to the number of shares bought by GS or MS, as applicable, in the market on each trading day, and at a price per share equal to the volume weighted average price at which GS or MS, as applicable, has purchased such shares on the market on such trading day.
Therefore, the Programme will be executed through purchases of shares in the market and purchases of shares from Qatar Airways on the terms set forth above, in an aggregate amount of €350 million (€262 million for purchases in the market and €88 million for purchases from Qatar Airways)". |

Heathrow prepares for busiest ever Christmas DayHeathrow airport said it is preparing for its busiest Christmas Day.Europe's busiest airport expects the number of passengers travelling through its terminals on December 25 to be 21pc higher than on the same day last year.It also predicts that passenger numbers for the month as a whole will exceed the previous record of 6.7m in 2023. |
were you asleep when they published the numbers |
It's just gone straight up. When are we expecting the next news to support the re rate? |
Well done all on this BB and especially one or two posters. Just keep the faith but obviously keep a close eye on world events, however, the Syria event looks very promising for improved stability. |
Meant to add great post Quantas.Enjoyed reading that as the good vibe keeps flowing in |
Always had faith long term but the speed of the retrace unreal. On Oct 2nd it was £1.90.In two months a 50 per cent rise. Outstanding and boy makes Xmas that bit more cheery lol |
The guy who shouted ' 3 pounds by Christmas' looks to have called this right. Best blue chip run I've ever held . GLA |
https://uk.investing.com/equities/intl.-cons.-air-grp-historical-dataJust been reviewing IAG performance through the festive period pre Covid. Interesting to see from 2013 to 2020 it has always gone north and in some cases quite sharply. Yes current climate always different however as, imo we have returned to consistent performance it was encouraging to read.Let's hope that pattern is replicated.GLA |
DT Questor:From a risk/reward standpoint, the stock remains highly appealing on a long-term view. The company's wide margin of safety, improving financial performance and relatively solid balance sheet mean it has the potential to deliver further share price gains over the coming years.Questor says: buyTicker: IAG |
There was always for me going to be a moment, period when the Covid legacy and chains fully come off. When profits started to return to pre Covid levels and flying capacity. This for me is that message to shareholders saying it loud and clear.Naturally the sector is more volatile than many but that said IAG historically has been almost the exception in recent times. In Walsh term record years followed record years. Now after the virus interjection its picked up that momentum. Been fortunate to been in at 115 area and topped up several times with faith firmly still with the projections across the board of much more to come over the next 12 months. The recent growth has been quite outstanding and who would have thought 2.80 would be broken 3 months ago . Who knows 3 maybe broke very soon. GLA |
400p on 18 months is possible. 6-700p will take many years (imo).Next year could be another great one for IAG (SP going to 400p) but it will need outside help (less war mongers in office is a start).Remember too that history shows that its almost a forgone conclusion that we'll have (in the next few users) either another financial crisis, oil crisis, more war or another go by the WHO at locking down billions of peeps. Hence why the airline sector is such high risk. Things are never straight forward in this business. Whets even more incredible is if the shares keep this up for another week or 2, I'll be back to break even! 12-18m ago I though it would take 5 years lol. |
