N62 - What you're saying it is going to be good for the likes of Easyjet as BA make the bulk of their profits from Business and First Class travel who are now able to are are use to staying in their comfortable homes and have their business meetings via the likes of Zoom.

Anyone with any sense would know the restrictions on arrival before leaving the UK. All I'm saying is as soon as people are allowed to go to the Mediterranean without being quarantined on arrival they certainly will. There will be plenty of young and middle aged going without a doubt and probably plenty of senior citizens too. Airlines will soon be full to all traditional holiday destinations as soon as the doors are open at both ends. I'd put my house on it.

The other problem is coming to the summer period which countries are going to let holiday makers in without them having to self isolate first. Not as simples as just getting out of the country

Too many unkmowns just now.

Is a total case fatality rate, including old and vulnerable people, of 0.1% really something to get worried about? It’s not that bad. I have had the virus and yes, I was very fatigued for 14 days but it really isn’t that bad to the 99% who have mild symptoms. I’d be very careful if I were a bit heavy, or had some serious chronic condition. The reality confirmed by many epidemiologists is that this crisis has been blown out of all proportion.

I'd be very surprised if any airline could operate for long with social distancing of 2m (not that you suggested 2m) ... I work for a company that operates 330's and 2m distancing means missing 2 seat rows between passengers fore and aft.. and laterally there are similar problems. As an example, if you wanted to split everyone by 2m (individual pax) one of ours aircraft which has 297 seats would only be able to carry 45 passengers. ... So distancing yes if possible, but no way will you get 2m. Personally I don't think many people will care soon. They'll just want to get on board and get some sun as soon as they're allowed to! And I'll be one of them!

Dispensation applies to more than ground qualifications I believe. Will have to trawl the Easa and CAA websites to confirm.

So, once we have our “passportsR21;, my guess is the “immune” will get a 15_30% discount discount ticket in the middle aisle.

Another head wind for airlines will be the fact that one will need to socially distance when flying. Profitably is going to seriously take a hit, in addition reduced flying loads.

Neither. The CAA has issued a blanket extension for ratings whilst this is going on.

Pilots are starting to loose their Type qualifications due to lack of air time. Sims are working around the clock but cannot keep up. From a very reliable source.

As soon as the destinations open up again, people will rush to getaway.
BA still operating by the way , saleable repatriation flights from India are doing well.

Now is the time to get in Imho. The world is standing on a precipice and there is no choice other than to do away with restrictions and let it spread. Oil futures are negative. The U.K. and other leading economies are losing billions each a day in lost economic production. The virus has emerged as something of a wet f@rt, only killing a few hundred thousand globally with hundreds of millions infected.

U.K. press, as other national news outlets are slowly turning against the economy destroying lockdown, with partial and complete reversals in lockdown proposed.

Expect to see news articles of the global impact to the third world soon. World food programme has signalled they reckon 100000 dying a day now of malnutrition and hunger. The cure has got far worse than the virus.

A mate just flew back from New Zealand 2 days ago and all on the Air New Zealand flight had masks on.

Once there are enough masks in circulation, everywhere on public transport will require masks to be worn, buses, trains, taxis, planes

They will survive, but I reckon hardly any passengers until a vaccine 12 months time if we are lucky.
