Ryanair restructure & Loss

Quote;
"we will place restrictions on the voting rights and share sales of non-EU shareholders for a period of time, in the event of a hard Brexit, to ensure that Ryanair remains at all times an EU owned and EU controlled airline, even if the UK exits the EU without a deal," the company explained."

I have no doubt that he has a plan but it would be helpful if he would share it.
I can see no benefit for not doing so, unless it involves having to take back shares from UK nationals.
Not an easy exercise I suspect but I think this is what EZJ has done.

He probably has a plan up his sleeve. Hasn't EasyJet(?) already moved to Austria? The ferries I believe have also 'reflagged'. (btw I expect that he is right about a deal).

Alphorn...what I find interesting, is that Walsh's only comments regarding this are that he fully expects a deal to be reached regarding Brexit.
Nothing at all about contingency plans for IAG in the event of a no deal.

Nobody comments on #301.

The idea of a company being majority owned and controlled by EU nationals to have full rights to the continental region is possible. It would probably only cover domestic to domestic routes. The principle could impact other industrial sectors?

It is only a draft idea at present.

Agree with you about keeping the fleet mixed neil.
No reason to put all your eggs in one basket and it provides a good negotiating position for AC orders.

The A380 has a place within the fleet, for those very high density routes. Routes such as LAX and JNB utilise the A380 and will be profitable. Iberia and Aer Lingus might be able to utilise some A380. We're never going to place a massive order, however a dozen A380 could be useful within the wider IAG fleet, but only at the right price.

I believe IAG shall continue with the mixed fleets, both Boeing and Airbus.

The A380 is great for slot restricted routes for instance it is ideal for Heathrow. it is still quite efficient when full but clearly not compared to the newer A350 and B787 aircraft.Paired on a route with an B777 you have high passenger capacity coupled with high cargo loads.British Airways could do with another 12 but it all depends on the price and whether Airbus will give the required discount to make it viable to IAG.As a passenger the A380 is hard to beat.

Possibly neil but why would he want more 380's !

Understand what you say chief but the AC has to be financially efficient and in today's market it isn't.

Walsh being very astute, simply playing Boeing off against Airbus to get the best possible deals.

Can't believe that Walsh said he would consider buying more 380's !!!
It's a dud of an aircraft with cargo capacity that is way too small for the number of pax it carries.

very odd from Walsh, even Emirates is reviewing it's forward orders of 380's.

Slightly different reporting from CNBC regarding Walsh.

Afternoon all. Nice to see the share price back in the mid 600's again.Sad that we can't ever seem to leave the 600's behind.Maybe next year if these Brexit shenanigans have been settled. Will see what happens to Nor but i suspect they'll muddle on for a while if the oil price behaves.Still, we must be due further airline consolidation in the coming mths/years.

1049 GMT - International Consolidated Airlines Group CEO Willie Walsh says the carrier is in the "late stages" about deciding between Boeing and Airbus for widebodies, with discussions also taking place between engine makers Rolls-Royce and GE. IAG already buys Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s and has said it would consider buying the 777X from Boeing. Mr. Walsh also said the airline would consider buying more A380 superjumbos, but not at current prices. He repeated the message that Airbus would need to offer the plane at lower costs for IAG to buy more but so far has failed to offer such pricing. (robert.wall@wsj.com)

I find it interesting though, ,that Walsh has made this announcementknowing it would cause the share price to drop, when he wants to sell his stake in Norwegian .
After all, wouldn't you want to achieve the highest price possible for your shares when selling, which wouldn't happen if you make the announcement, as the share price would fall.
