By law, a company cannot pay a dividend unless it has positive distributable reserves. Companies which have been loss making for several years (like IGP) will have accumulated substantial negative distributable reserves over the years. Rather than wait for those to be eliminated by profits over the next few years, they have reduced the nominal amount of the share capital and used the difference to eliminate that deficit.

Economically it has no effect on the company except allowing them to pay dividends.

I doubt there will be a share buyback as they couldn't get hold of a decent volume without spiking the price.

Odds on though we get a dividend with the FY results.

Looking at todays news, does it mean igp will be buying its shares back ?

It will help support the share price if its the case ?

Another database project.

U.S. Army Scanning Eyeballs in Afghanistan
Friday, October 29, 2010 In Afghanistan, the American military is using handheld high-tech devices to scan the irises and record the fingerprints of Afghans to store in a database that allows soldiers to identify and capture insurgents.

The U.S. Army reportedly has gathered information on 800,000 people, using small portable equipment that contains a camera to scan eyes and an electronic pad to take fingerprints.

Afghanistan's government has been getting into biometric ID gathering as well, storing info on 250,000 people so far. But American officials want President Hamid Karzai to get behind a more aggressive effort to collect biometric ID data on every Afghan citizen age 16 and up.

There is no linkage between the two databases, which limits the effectiveness of the operation. Some critics of the Karzai government worry about the risk of the biometric data being used for the wrong purposes.

Cybersecurity projects up-coming, this is something id expect igp to be involved in.

The departments of Homeland Security and Defense have formally established a joint approach to defend America's government, military and domestic IT infrastructure .

The new framework agreed to by DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, outlined in a memorandum of agreement signed Wednesday, would enhance operational coordination and joint program planning to secure critical IT systems. Under the agreement, DoD cyber analysts will be embedded within DHS to better support the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center and DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications, Navy Rear Adm. Michael Brown, will work fulltime at the National Security Agency, DoD's electronic spy agency, along with a support team comprised of DHS privacy, civil liberties and legal personnel.

I do not think this deal was a book keeping exercise.

The fact that the market was well bid for stock before the deal went through and the MM's were scrambling to get hold of stock and they are now trying hard to give the impression they do not want stock, is a good enough a signal for me that is more behind this than meets the eye.

I am convinced the recent firmness in the share price and large cross deals that are going through are a prelude to an approach to acquire the company.

It could be someone doing some management. i.e. moving from Shares to SB, or from one account to another, maybe personal to an offshore company etc.

unless there is an RNS because they hold more than 3% (shares moved are more than 1% so would cause a movement RNS) we will probably never know !

FELIX

It was only an offer when the market was bid 64p to support the MM's.

If they did not take it, and I did not expect them for one minute to do so, and the price moves up to 68p bid my offer would have lapsed.

But I see now that the seller has shown his hand again!!

Someone is building a stake.

There are two market forces at play here.

There is a seller whose first attempt to put a cap on the rise was foiled by the large buyer taking out the first sizeable amount he offered.

The seller disappeared with his tail between his legs and the MM's lost their supplier of stock. They then took the price higher up into the mid 60's to see where the next line of stock would be offered.

When there was no follow through from the buyer but only small buys from ordinary Joe Bloggs the MM's started to pull the price down probably running small short positions but also attempting to shake the trees to dislodge holders who started to see their profits evaporate. There are other holders who trade the market and as WJC said hope to make 8p out of the fall. With a weak stock market the big seller might also have put his toe back in the market to let the MM's know he is a seller around 65p.

There is not a lot of true stock being sold and as can be seen from today's news you only have to get another announcement and the share price is up 7p.

The message is loud and clear; it is highly dangerous to trade this stock on the short side as you will not be able to get back in!

We will soon hit the high 60's and test moving into the 70's.

The higher the price goes the higher the price any would be buyer will have to pay to get hold of IGP. We are now looking at a bid of between £1.20 to £1.30p. As WJC said with the current growth the price in 2 years will be around the £1.20 level. Then the buyer will have to pay £1.80p.

That is why I believe we will see IGP announce they have received an approach shortly!!!

Thanks IGOE.

I bought 10k at 57.5p this morning, another 10k at 57.7p and have an order in for another 35k at that price.

One MM is offering at 57.7p but only 5k and would only sell 35k at 60p.

No point chasing especially as the MM's have taken the price down 8p on so little trade.

Let's see what "shake the tree games" they want to play as two can play at that game!!!

If the rumoured large buyer is still out there, the price reduction of the last few days is not doing it a lot of good. If a MM is only prepared to sell 15k at 2p above the market just imagine what price it will have to pay for another 150k!!!!!

I put my toe back in the market this morning and tried to buy 30,000 shares for one of my funds starting with a bid for 10,000 shares.

Surprisingly the MM did sell 10,000 but ran a mile when I said I was interested in buying another 20,000!

It's not easy to pick up stock and I understand there is still an interested large buyer behind the scenes as well as me.
