Thanks ibug.

375m shares @8p can be dropped like a bomb, as soon as the price doubles is my concern, other than that, seems a good mid risk investment at sub 8p ONLY.

now the share price is up about 5% ... looks like a very nice start to the day ...

"After just two weeks of breakneck negotiations, SoftBank said on Monday that it will pay £17 in cash for each share in Arm, a 43 per cent premium to its closing price last week. Shares in Arm surged to £16.78."

These deals can be done very quickly and, as I said, sterling shows signs of recovery. That means that if sterling has "bottomed" ... then so has the price of British companies ... which have been cheap as chips since the post-Brexit vote collapse in Sterling's value ... so ... the sale is over and if anyone wants to buy a UK company, they have to hurry ... buy is about 7.5 now .... interesting .... no RNS .... no news in the media ..... up 11% yesterday, up 5.4% in the first hour of trading today? Hmmmm

Snapchat bought mobli's geofilter for 7.7 million bucks recently .... what's a patent worth? What you can get for it ... see Ballard deal .. google "buy""patent for" and you get some news .. try variations around that theme ..... I cannot understand why a company that has patents worth millions only has a market cap of 12 million quid ..... why is the value of the patents obviously not factored into the SP? .... you'd think even the IIs would be onto this.....

I still think a takeover might be in the offing ... before the Meditor loan notes need sorting .... a completely unexplained rise in the share price this morning .... bid was 6.9 last night, allegedly ... 7.38 for a bit ... maybe it's just finding its feet for the day. I do get the idea that any traders who bought in have taken profits this far so a new rise will be needed to flush out more .... if anyone wants shares that is ... but, if anyone wanted loads of shares .... and II for instance, why didn't they just go mad and buy loads when it was around 5p????? If the MMS have a few shares to lash around and move after yesterdays sell of about 12k, maybe they'll get rid of them with an artificial spike .... maybe there's news .... maybe someone's just done the sums and worked out the value of the patents!!!!

I reckon IEH could do really well from being patent trolls if they wanted ..... if you do a lot of R&D, you MUST keep on top of patents .... perhaps another reason why IEH are slow with news .... the want patents secure before making too much noise about new tech .... I'm going to do some research on patents .... I was in a company called Meditor. The got stung by a patent infringement case ... cost them over a million ...... I know they wouldn't find buyers for every patent and some wouldn't got for much but ..... IEH long term plan has been along the same strategy as ARM ... I still reckon there could be a take over .... that much IP, at these prices, with the pound so low and now recovering? I think we may hear about a rash of rake overs .... hope IEH isn't one of them ..... this has much further to go IMO

5 Clean Energy Innovations That Could Transform Our World

Zainab Calcuttawala Oilprice.com09 May 2017

Innovations in energy storage, smart grid, and electricity generation technologies will affect every part of the source-to-consumer supply chain for powering the planet. Energy storage tech improves the viabilities of wind and solar power – two energy sources that remain cost prohibitive due to expenses related to batteries that would store generated energy. Smart grids will regulate the movement of energy throughout a city or state, insuring the areas from crippling blackouts. Developments in electricity generation make sure we make the most out of fossil fuels and other energy sources to improve efficiency.

What follows is a survey of progress in the development of five different technologies that promise to change the face of the energy industry in the next 20 years.

1. Fuel Cell: Truck manufacturers Kenworth, Toyota, and UPS have begun investing in fuel cell technologies, which would allow transport vehicles to run on hydrogen and oxygen, releasing only heat and water as emissions. Modern hydrogen production still requires copious fossil fuel use, but the process could soon be powered by renewable energies, making fuel cell vehicles extremely clean alternatives to current trucking solutions.

In Europe, fuel cell production facilities will begin pumping out 50,000 fuel cell stacks by the year 2020, making United Kingdom-based Intelligent Energy the market leader in bringing the green technology to the masses. “Hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles are available now, but to continue to drive customer adoption, we need to ensure future fuel cell stacks are robustly industrialised and remain cost competitive in the future,” said the company’s Manufacturing Head Richard Peart.

2. Lithium-air batteries: These storage units, also known as Lithium-oxygen fuel cells, have been gestating in scientific labs all over the world since the beginning of electric vehicles. Science Daily says two instabilities in the technology’s current form have prevented it from hitting mass markets: unpredictable short circuiting and speedy loss of battery power. Cornell University recently tackled the second capacity face problem, meaning we could be just one witty solution away from long-range electric cars.

3. First Generation Smart Grid: The first step in making a reliable and responsive smart grid system requires the installation of smart meters in every household and building. The new meters will send usage information in real time to your energy provider, allowing adjustments in availability to fluctuate according to the area’s latest needs. So far, countries like the United Kingdom are having trouble adjusting the technology to fit the national infrastructure and business norms. The United States jumped on the smart grid bandwagon in 2007 and set up a taskforce to ensure a synchronized adoption of the new technology. The process has been slow, but small communities have begun “microgrid” projects that will allow consumer demand to drive implementation.

4. Tidal turbines: Much like wind turbines, these underwater pinwheels harness energy from wave movement. This green energy has had small-scale success so far, but objections from fishermen, as well as accidents, have set the technology back in California – tidal energy Ground Zero – in recent months. But the science behind tidal energy continues its march forward. Scotrenewables Tidal Power announced the launch of a new low-cost turbine off the coast of Scotland. It’s also the “largest and most powerful” turbine of its kind in the world with a power generation capacity of two megawatts, according to its manufacturers. A retractable arm gives the facility a separate transport mode and an operation mode, which allows easy portability and an impermanence that would please local fishing industries.

Related: How Much Further Could Oil Prices Fall?

5. Space-based Solar Power: Solar power captured from-the-beyond has been a sci-fi concept since the 1970s. The high cost of transporting the panels and other equipment into space has prevented the idea from becoming fruitful for commercial energy production. In addition, the transfer of generated energy back to Earth has been a concern. Solar power panels installed on the ground connect to the local power grid to deliver their harnessed goods, but it is comical to imagine a satellite in space hooked to the planet via cable for efficient energy delivery, prompting scientists to develop wireless energy transfer technologies akin to the iPhone 8’s anticipated wireless charging feature. None of the existing methods have proven to be feasible on a massive scale. Suggestions are welcome.

The advances mentioned above are inter-related: progress in the lithium-air battery efforts will pave the way for the success of electric cars, which could be recharged with energy hardheaded from the tides or space-based solar power. It's one small step for science, one giant leap for green energy-kind.

I remember when articles about HFCs and hydrogen came alng at a rate of two a week. Now it's one a day at least ... an Hydrogen filling station here, drone development there, genset order here, project leading news there, news on patents, cartridges, military, space, Suzuki / IEH / Toyota cooperation ... steadily, the news flow has increased though it'd be nice to see news on income from IP and orders for hardware ..... in July, the government need to explain how they're going to create cleaner air. I expect that'll bear some good news.

THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING STATEMENT FROM AN ARTICLE ABOUT FUTURE FUEL SOURCES:

In Europe, fuel cell production facilities will begin pumping out 50,000 fuel cell stacks by the year 2020, making United Kingdom-based Intelligent Energy the market leader in bringing the green technology to the masses.

IT WILL MEAN IEH WILL HAVE A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF BUSINESS REVENUE WORTH BILLIONS/ YEAR imo.

Transport for London want Hydrogen Fuel Cell powered buses ...

"Transport for London (TfL) has launched a tender for the bulk procurement of hydrogen fuel cell buses.

Working in partnership with three other UK cities - Aberdeen, Birmingham, Dundee - TfL is inviting potential suppliers of fuel cell buses to join a framework for the supply of single and double decker vehicles to cities across the UK and potentially further afield.

The procurement activity is part of the JIVE (Joint Initiative for hydrogen Vehicles across Europe) project, an EU-funded project deploying 139 new zero emission fuel cell buses across nine cities, the first deployment of this scale in Europe.

The project is coordinated by Element Energy. Ben Madden, director of Element Energy, said: “The launch of this joint procurement exercise is an important milestone for the JIVE project and the fuel cell bus sector as a whole.

“Taking a coordinated approach to purchasing large numbers of these buses should deliver increased standardisation and significant cost reductions, allowing the cities to realise their zero emission bus adoption plans.”

If Toyota or the EU saw this business as high risk they would not have been given this three year development contract imo...THUS THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MARKET SIGNAL THAT SHOWS CONFIDENCE IN THE BUSINESS.

Intelligent Energy takes technical lead in programme to further develop fuel cell stack for future mass manufacture

The programme, named DIGIMAN, is a €3.5 million programme, receiving funding from the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) under the EU programme Horizon 2020, which will focus on creating a robust platform for future stack production for zero emission vehicles.

Also involved in the three year programme are Freudenberg Performance Materials SE&Co.KG, WMG at the University of Warwick, and Toyota Motor Europe. The latter will be responsible for best practice requirements for future automotive stack production. Project management support and communication activities will be provided by the SME Pretexo.

One thing you can be sure of is IEH are pretty leakproof so there won't be any warning if a "ballardesque" deal is in the offing. I can't see this falling much below where it is now ... it seems the share price bounces pretty quickly if this goes below 5p ...... I still wonder if a take over might happen ...... there are a lot of cash rich companies out there and UK companies are cheap as chips at the moment ... still, if there was going to be a take over, wouldn't we see a "major interest in shares" RNS?

It's not even that I'm that passionate about HFCs ..... yes, I bought into this too high but I've managed to average down a lot and anticipate that I'll be rewarded if I'm patient .... this doesn't have to go that high for me to do nicely here ..... the key here, for me ... is growth ... I see growth ... coming slowly, but coming none the less and I reckon the growth will increase ... so I'm quite relaxed about this .... I can't imagine anyone, in this globalised world wanting to try and get away with patent infringement so .... I have faith in the value of the IP .... IEH may even get an offer from a drone company .... or an outfit like Varta or Duracell for some IP .... since I presume the battery manufacturers are also going to have to move with the times and wonder what they're going to do for a living once batteries have mainly been replaced ...

An interesting feature of the Ballard-Volkswagon deal is that the tech sold is a renewable non-exclusive agreement with a timeline that expires in 2019 worth $80M - $112M USD. Ballad said that they expect the deal to yield far more revenue in the future as the H2 market in China takes off. The Ballard team are clearly highly skilled negotiators to have put together the Volkswagon contract. Before the last September deal Ballard was a loss making business and they are now making a significant number of commercial deals after a long period of failure to commercialize their products.

This article clearly illustrates similarities to IEH.

IEH have been trying to commercialize their products for a long time and just like Ballard's were surprised at the lack of progress. However now that the business is far more keenly focused they now have a steady stream of success that is expected to build with significant numbers of medium volume contracts. The catalyst of change will most likely come from marketing Pro UAV Drones as the market demands longer flight times and faster recharging than Lithium batteries; and also from the long standing Suzuki relationship. Which is highly likely to yield large volume production orders for the 4KW air cooled HFC's.

It would not be surprising to see IEH do a similar contract as Ballard's for their 100KW HFC in the growing H2 bus space. If that happens I just hope the company can put together a skillfully crafted arrangement.
