Effective Space, based in London, has signed a $100m contract to extend the life of two satellites for a large communications operator, which will be announced soon." | kamitora

16/1/2018 16:47 | Interesting to see if trades down to £5.00 which would be a great risk reward or whether we go north sooner than people think. Given the attractive shorter term chart I favour it going up and not allowing everyone a nice easy fill at £5.00. I guess we are going to find out in the days ahead :-). | the original goldbug

15/1/2018 12:03 | Same difference, no? They would have PE backing... Although might be less low ball. | zcaprd7
15/1/2018 11:49 | Perhaps ripe for a management buyout? | jamie62
14/1/2018 17:46 | A PE low ball bid would be galling, they would effectually buy it, load it up worry debt, take the purchase money out, and get the business for free. It's why I'd don't mind them using debt for the dividend, although some view that as a red flag, or some sort of cardinal sin (although I notice most of the shorters seemed to have disappeared lately)? | zcaprd7
14/1/2018 17:42 | Given a bid would come from someone who didn't own any of the shares, the 6 month rule is irrelevant... | zcaprd7
14/1/2018 09:19 | Hi RCTurner2, I think the only restriction on a bidder is that it cannot offer to pay less than it has paid for any shares in the target that it has bought in the last twelve months. There have been cases (can't think of an example off the top of my head) where a bidder has made an offer LOWER than current s/p.....and been successful : the PI market hadn't priced in an issue that the IIs woke up to. Not likely to be the case here, I hasten to add ! ATB | extrader
13/1/2018 19:56 | I think there is some rule which says the offer has to be higher than any price of the last 6 months, so probably about the 900p mark I would guess? | rcturner2
13/1/2018 13:49 | I wonder what the offer would be pitched at if it were purchased ~ £11 ? | my retirement fund
13/1/2018 13:01 | Weekend FT carries article on Page 16 headed "satellite operator rockets amid fresh takeover talk"."RBC refreshed its longstanding theory that Inmarsat is a bid target with an argument that private equity funds could be interested."Now could be the perfect time to take Inmarsat private", the broker told clients."Our leveraged buyout model suggests an internal rate of return of around 60% on undemanding assumptions".The buyout makes sense now because Inmarsat's enterprise value is near a 10 year low versus earnings, which reflect an estimated $70m of start up losses at its inflight broadband business that will swing into a $ 44m profit after five years so the exit should be highly profitable ,RBC argued. | steeplejack
13/1/2018 07:15 | The chart would suggest that 600p is on the way quite quickly. | rcturner2 |
