Often tipped as a takeover target but it never happens. Takeover price would have to be over £50 a share I would think. After all the company is not in trouble and is increasing divs by 10 per cent a year at the moment. An expensive purchase @ plus 51,000[m] which would represent a 60% premium to the current market cap.

Telegraph market report:

Cigarette maker Imperial Brands also eked out gains of 50.5p to £33.96 on the back of a bullish broker note from Goldman Sachs. The US investment bank added it to its “conviction list” as it thinks the current stock price marks “a compelling buying opportunity”. So far this year it has underperformed its peers by 10pc. It also remains a takeout candidate, analysts said.

If reports are accurate PM cannot keep up with current demand,
4% market share in Japan at the end of September is the figure I have seen.

I watched an extended interview on IQOS and the product is definitely
a threat to traditional cigarettes, IMB maintain that vapour is their preferred option.

PM have poured billions in to development of new generation products.

Is this the first cigarette that DOESN'T kill you? Firm claims it contains 90% less toxins but delivers the same nicotine hit

++ Philip Morris International say it could help kill off traditional cigarettes

++ The IQOS smokeless cigarettes work by heating tobacco - not burning it

++ The electronic device costs £45 and works with mini tobacco sticks

++ Experts say this helps it to deliver far fewer toxins than common products
