PS - looking at the daily chart of i3e - there are some gaps on the way up that could be closed + it usually takes lots of "energy" to break round numbers like 20p.

I will just hold.

but not add - as better opp might arise for the top up imho

just an observation that is prob irrelevant to most

Pretax - I am investing some into the Eastern EU energy - but not directly. In math terms - in the first or second derivative - meaning - I invest in production that needs lots of cheap and reliable energy that gets sold integrated into a final product (at a huge profit) when selling the end product. Those plays are not directly targeted by our politicians and are thriving and expanding fast.

Spangle,

We bought here for very similar reasons and have a similar yield on initial buys. Its very nice however that the company lowers our average on every divi paid. I'm going to try to resist selling any of my three largest holdings for the foreseeable future. But if some were to get ahead of themselves it would be hard to resist too.

I3E I see as fairly unique on AIM right now, normally a company this size would be dripping with debt. Also having their assets in safe areas like Canada and NS are a big plus too. Add to that its a growth and income stock with a mix of high upside assets and is still undervalued it would be a hard one to replace in a porty.

My current plans are hold as long as possible for the divi income and watch them advance the Simonette and NS assets to their potential.

Regards,
Ed.

Basically Eastern Europe oil & gas supply can’t be counted upon. Why invest in E&P in this region?

The price of oil has been rising not because of geopolitical tensions in Europe, but because "supply-side shock absorbers" are much thinner now, according to Michael Tran, managing director of global energy strategy at RBC Capital Markets. He is calling for major crude benchmarks such as West Texas Intermediate and Brent to hit US$115 per barrel over the summer.hTTp://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/supply-constraints-could-drive-oil-to-us-115-rbc-strategist-1.1723944Gl all

I’m with you spangle.
There’ll be peaks and troughs, but the current rise is backed by the fundamentals, it’s not going back to 10p anytime soon, or ever.

I'd primarily bought here for the dividends, with a bonus of it being undervalued. At 1.05p pa minimum, that's around 12.5% yield on my average buy.

So I don't really have a sell price in mind as long as they keep growing the cash flow, but if it went stratospheric, I think I'd be tempted to bank :-)

I looked at AXL a while back - obviously now wish I'd picked it as a momentum trade, doh, but apart from size (as you noted), where one well can make a difference, I couldn't really see any benefit compared to I3E.

Divide respective market cap by production, or especially market cap by 2P reserves, and I3E would look a better bet. Add onyo that AXL has half its assets in Colombia, isn't the operator in a number of its leases, and doesn't have the equivalent of a Serenity wild card.

For balance, Mount Teide, a well respected poster on these boards in this sector, is very keen on the quality of the management, who have been there, and got the T-shirt, with previous companies. That is perhaps one advantage it has over I3E, where I believe there remains reticence in trust in management following the North Sea campaign.

Jung,

No didn't look at it yesterday, but did about a month ago. AXL has a bunch of small assets, those Colombian wells do a couple of hundred bopd gross. It certainly doesn't have much in the way of scale, not even close to I3E and its 450 deve and re-completion locations. AXL would need one or more interesting acquisitions to have even a fraction of the bagger potential of I3E, if it picks up something interesting it might be an investment. Watch this one go once they start the North Sea campaign.

Regards,
Ed.

Yeah true chaps, folks are starting to realise that this cash cow is going to get a lot fatter. Production growing, oil price going through the roof, game changing assets in Canada and also Serenity/Minos high. Known minimum level monthly dividend looks set to increase during the year. Its an easy hold for the foreseeable future, sort out Serenity and it'll be a very exciting one too. I'm sure there are many rubbing their hands together at the current Brent price.

Ed.

My own target this year is 40p and if serenity gets successfully drilled, double that. All imho

As people have been saying, i3e has become a great oil and gas income fund with zero fees and huge scope for upside.
Works for me.
I also like the way it held up yesterday despite a general drop in the stock market.
