27/1/2022 12:31 | wouldn't it be wonderful if they (the market regulators / rule makers) just amended (and therefore simplified) the TR1 form with the following teeny weeny tweak 🤔 2. reason for notification a) acquisition [CHECK BOX] OR b) disposal [CHECK BOX] OR c) neither (% change resultant of issued share number change) [CHECK BOX] # SORTED 👌 mind you, those tweaks probably still wouldn't cover what happened LOL anyway who cares as the shifting shares % is a drop in the ocean to some of us 😉 | the patriotic irishman
27/1/2022 12:22 | May I respectfully suggest that sensible people react to the trolls by a) filtering them b) saying nothing whatsoever about them Every time somebody makes a reference to any of the various people who are clearly posting in bad faith they reward that person. The objective of a troll is not to persuade other people round to their point of view, it is simply to distract, disrupt and damage the conversation between genuine contributors. A negative reaction tells them their tactic is working. It nourishes them. The best, most effective, reaction is silence - simply ignore them and all of their statements without even mentioning them. It's easy to filter them. It's perhaps a bit less easy to restrain yourself from saying what you think of them, but it is well worth the effort. | tournesol

26/1/2022 23:50 | Hi Darton/the abbot, Thank you for posting this. After reading it got me thinking why they would have to disclose financial instruments like CFDs which as you said have no voting rights. Well, after doing some research and looking at section DTR 5.1.2R in the FCA handbook I read that for a UK incorporated company, which Cairn Capital is, investors must disclose every % increase/decrease in their holding above the 3% threshold. I then looked at section DTR 5.3.1 which discuses notifications from holding certain financial instruments. It states that if you buy a financial instrument which has an economic effect similar to the voting rights financial instruments you already hold you must notify in accordance with the applicable thresholds, i.e. the % increases. So from this we can deduce that the Contract for Differences which Cairn Capital now own are long as they are own a lot of shares! If we then look at the amount of shares they have sold from this TR1 its 366,088 and we assume they were sold at an average price of the current 14p this equates to £51,252.38 cash back to Cairn. In the same TR1, CFDs owned by Cairn increased by .6834% which we can assume is equivalent to an increase of about 7,697,995 shares. At 14p these would be valued at £1,077,719. So they have increased their exposure by net £1,026,467 and hold the equivalent of 21x the 366,088 they have recently sold. To me, this 21x multiple seems close to what a financial services company would let a larger institutional investor borrow on which means the CFDs could have cost Cairn a similar amount to the shares they have recently sold - ballsy move if this is true! If this is the case there are a couple of reasons they may have done this which are both very bullish. The first is it lets them increase their exposure to I3E without having to free up funds and the second is that by selling shares this helps to suppress the share price in the short term therefore allowing them to load up lower priced, more lucrative CFDs. I don’t know if you will agree with this and happy to hear other points of view and of course this is all speculation on my part so take this with a pinch of salt. | gooroo1
26/1/2022 23:25 | I think the shareholder is anticipating volitility and wants to be able to trade at the margins of their holding. If shareholder has insider knowledge, this could be a sign of imminent takeoff. Speculation I know, but seems to make sense. | pretax2

26/1/2022 15:35 | Pretax, Given that oil is currently trying to crack $90/bbl and that the upcoming wells are oil focused (clearwater and Simonette) then your suggestion looks likely. The higher these commodity prices all things will be on the table, including the recently mentioned buybacks, additional divis and no doubt further drilling/acquisition Regards, Ed. | edgein
26/1/2022 15:29 | I think they'll have to up the divi (currently 1.05pps) | pretax2
