13/11/2022 18:34 | Not any more, because the two main parties have become virtually indistinguishable. We already have the policies of a conventional Labour government: high spend, high taxes, no protection of borders,But, but we have taken back control, they told us???Now the new Woke having a meltdown & wants to get us further right to the discredited milkshake man!Lol6 years of we know what we voted for!LolIt sounds like The undefined being negotiated by the unprepared to get the unspecified to the uninformed. Here we are, now, with people saying that is not what I voted for.LolGl all | goodday1
13/11/2022 18:09 | People have voted for 'more of the same' partly because there hasn't been a viable, credible alternative; but mainly out of fear. Anyone with a reasonable grasp of Economics will never vote Labour, but they have voted for the Tories rather than new parties on the Right, for fear of letting in Labour. Not any more, because the two main parties have become virtually indistinguishable. We already have the policies of a conventional Labour government: high spend, high taxes, no protection of borders, utterly woke, against individual liberties and pro State control. All of which now makes a vote for Reform (and the fear of a split vote on the Right) less risky than, say, with Corbyn waiting in the wings. Apologies for off-topic, btw, given this is a I3E thread. | bluemango
13/11/2022 17:57 | I wonder why people always vote for 'more of the same'. It will be Reform UK for me, next time. | joestalin
13/11/2022 17:47 | And labour managed the economy so well in the previous 13 years? Divmad, your post above exemplifies why this country is in such a mess and has been for decades. Political point scoring is all that matters to MP's of ALL parties rather than trying to lead the country for the long term good of the country. People wonder why I don't vote, I wonder why people do. | gary1966
13/11/2022 17:12 | The rot started well before the Truss debacle. You damn well know it. Years of Tory kicking the deficit reduction target into the long grass came to a head with Sunak's ill conceived COVID set of public sector subsidies in 2020. The Ukraine war and energy price squeeze compounded the difficulties. So debt/GDP has gone from 60% to nearly 100% in that time. Alarm bells were ringing, but, hey, let's put all the blame onto a woman, called Truss. And so now, we, the people of the UK, must finally pay the price for 10 years of Tory mismanagement, aided and abetted by a quiescent BoE who just went along with the Fed's easy money QE for too long. | divmad
13/11/2022 13:11 | That was received from someone & I added the belowThank you, Jezzoo, my apology & thanks for the correction/update.Gl allThanks to the original composer.Gl all | goodday1
13/11/2022 13:07 | "Looking at Hunt and Sunak, I find it reassuring to see that the grown ups are back in charge. If they have to take some painful decisions it's the fault of their predecessors."LolLet us examine the above moronic statement!Who was the chancellor??He was appointed to Theresa May's second government as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Government in the 2018 reshuffle. Sunak served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020.---Who was Health Secretary??Hunt served as Secretary of State for Health, later Health and Social Care, from 2012 to 2018.Why are people not honest & call the spade a spade? Those two held cabinet posts for years & they have delivered/dug the hole we find ourselves in.Stupid taking the pi*s"If they have to take some painful decisions it's the fault of their predecessors."----Co | goodday1

13/11/2022 11:25 | Actually Hunt is on a mission to fix the damage done by Truss's half baked and ill-considered attempt to overturn the manifesto commitments on which the conservative party won the last election. Looking at Hunt and Sunak, I find it reassuring to see that the grown ups are back in charge. If they have to take some painful decisions it's the fault of their predecessors. | tournesol
13/11/2022 10:49 | Hunt on a mission to kill off middle England aspirations. Another WEF apologist. | divmad
13/11/2022 10:36 | If Hunt goes too far with taxes on Thursday a lot of PI's could flock from NS O&G Co's to places like here for their O&G exposure. Could be in for a very interesting few days. I hold a fair amount of SQZ and HBR, so a bit concerned, but I have more in here. | maddogbeast
