I haven't got a view one view or t'other on fraccing..... I'd just like to see 2 or 3 wells at maybe 2 or 3 locations fracced & put on test...seems illogical to take a position on fraccing until we have some facts & figures for fraccing in the UK

geraldo: I couldn't agree more - the tremors picked up at Cuadrilla's Preston New Road site were miniscule and would have been completely ignored in other jurisdictions.

Does anyone know of Truss' stance on fracking?

if people read the actual scientific studies they would find that the actual risks in fracking (earth tremors/water contamination/etc) are very low with the latest techniques.

..If you're not picking up very minor tremors during fracking, then you're doing it wrong! You can't have rocks being fractured without upsetting a few seismometers....there aren't really "risks" of minor tremors with fracking.... & of course, the risky contaminants are already in place in the shales to be fractured.... the risk, such as it is, is failing to deal properly with recovered fraccing fluids & the contaminants they've leached from the shales

I asked EV on the 27th why the article had been taken down but got no reply. I see now that it was reinstated on the 29th - strange!

Lancaster is quite close to the West of Shetland gas pipeline that runs from Foinaven field through Schiehallion (north of Lancaster) on through Clair to Sullom Voe Terminal ..the project is to then link Sullom Voe to the SIRGE pipeline to the mainland it seems..so taking WoS gas to market. Connection to the WoS gas pipeline may be possible but doubt there is commercial basis unless there was a major gas pocket discovered?

The fact is OPEC+ haven't got the capacity to increase after many years of under investment , they are as good as at capacity. We have then had Biden releasing the strategic Petroleum reserve at never seen levels..its really there for security of supply not to try to manipulate the oil markets but that ain't stopped him. Problem is it has to be replaced in due course which will be large demand rather than supply to the markets. It's difficult know the impact of his actions but "he" thinks it has depressed the price..so without the releases where would it be?

Well, all the dynamics are pointing positive for HUR especially the POO now OPEC+ have decided not to appease Obama's puppet and increase production

It is not directly relevant, and I am looking for a map, but:

kooba: People should also bear in mind that the environmental record of drilling operations in the UK has improved dramatically over the past 20 years and is now, along with Norway, world leading.

In the meantime back at good old Hurricane , the key point in the Energy Voice article are the words "engaged in detailed reviews of a number of exciting opportunities" this would indicate ongoing DD on specific projects. Kooba: Unusually, quite a well balanced article for the BBC.

Hydraulic fracturing can be done safely as long as the proper controls and monitoring are in place.

In the US they were way to gung-ho in their attitude to fracking and did far too much of it and too quickly.

There is some absolute rubbish (flammable tap water etc) being pushed by the anti-fracking activists but if people read the actual scientific studies they would find that the actual risks in fracking (earth tremors/water contamination/etc) are very low with the latest techniques.

I own a few Igas ..as both candidates have indicated their support to restart fracking if companies can get local support.It would be a major way to exploit domestic reserves , resulting in cheaper and secure supplies for the UK. Companies in the sector have pledged to put large sums back into the communities where they might operate.The numbers could be very significant in reducing imported gas, securing energy independence and controlling price.
