As far as I am aware, the risers are usually pulled through the buoy and connected to the stationary part of the turret/swivel stack, which is obviously located on the FPSO. They should be able to run the flowlines from the well-heads to a termination point close to the FPSO though, just leaving the final section (risers & mid-water arches etc,) until the FPSO arrives. That said, with good weather pulling the risers (just 2 I believe) and the umbilical (for ESP power, control, and chemicals) is not a particularly onerous task.

Are you sure about that Steve?

Since the buoy is disconnectable, and they clearly won't be planning on dropping the risers if they have to disconnect, the risers must have an attachment to the buoy, that is independent to their attachment to the FPSO. So I'd assume the risers would be installed to the buoy before the FPSO picked it up.

If anyone's never looked before (like me), it's on "Fjara Sealevel Cam". If not immediate apparent, cam will pan, or sequence over to buoy.

Hi hiddendepths,

Thanks for your interpretation of the strategic significance of the BP swap and its potential implications. I've cross-posted to lse with acknowledgement, since I feel it deserves a wider audience....;->

You tease us with .."On the basis of this story alone, I am inclined to raise my target price for HUR by quite a way..."

dspp over on lemonfool has arrived at what HUR might be worth under certain circumstances, the trick is knowing/guessing at what point along the value realisation curve some major or consortium decides to strike.

Care to share at what point - and price-point you think BP might have a go ? They'd want to avoid a bidding war, I imagine.

Fully understand, btw, if you prefer not to comment !

"I am convinced that BP plans to take out Hurricane once they have established that the concept works."

Me too HD, BP or shell I reckon.

From Dr T's recent Malcy interview: "We tried to farm_out Lancaster on its own all the interested parties said no we're interested in everything".......

IIRC PMO's Catcher hooked-up a much more complex & numerous system, and managed to achieve first oil in around 2-3 months from arrival in the field
.
Subject to AM leaving Dubai in the next 6 weeks or so, FO could still be achieved in '18, although unlikely IMO.

Wow so the buoy is on its way, then, if I read you right, Steel. How long will it take to get there? Arrive today? Raise high those anchor chains! Once the buoy is attached, the rest of the SURF can be finished and brought up to the buoy. We need to know about the well re-completions, the christmas trees and all the umbilicals etc.

Will it really take six more months to finish the hook up job and get the FPSO operational? I must say I doubt it.
