Mali is currently one of the very few countries not affected by cv19.
Hopefully if they can keep it back for longer time and the mine stays open for a while then this should push towards 30p very quickly.

The fundamentals are more than sufficient to, arguably, support a much higher shareprice (multiples higher). That was the case before Corona and will be the case now.

I don't know why some folk want to crowbar other stuff into it. Especially if it's stuff that if you think it through would actually be a downside risk.

I think the gold situation is a bit more complex, it's not like oil or perishable foodstuffs, there is a lot of gold in vaults around the world. The price reflects the perceived value compared to other investments.

Did I say they were immune? Do you literally try and be negative on everything?

If gold mines in US, Canada, South Africa get closed on a temporary basis and production at Hum is unaffected it is likely a positive gold an consequently for Hum.

A potential negative is the temporary closure at refineries in Switzerland.

For now gold is at all time highs in sterling, production is (touch wood fine) hopefully ticking along at 10koz a month.

Why do you think HUM or any other miner would be immune?

It's a strange thing for folk invested in miners to get excited about the prospect of closing mines....

Casual if Hum carries on producing and supply is dropping from other sources it will be good for Hum. I don't think it really needs explaining further.

How will a global trend of gold miners closing down be good for the shareprice of HUM, with their single producing mine?

With gold mines closing for short periods around the world, gold supply will be obviously be running short, so this will also help the gold price rise quicker and a lot higher.

Hi Seagreen,

All from my own database. Most have not been updated (NAV wise) since the interims.

Have not discounted goodwill (cannot say I have seen much on Goldies balance sheets anyway!).

All the best.

hi casual...I marked it down as too confusing...but will have a look later...many thanks chat on the other side or bung me an advfn message...I was trying to convince my 92 year old Uncle an x broker about it being undervalued and the fact gold could go up last night .......Had the I have seen it all before (he has) and gold has had a good run...(I also put him into some AIM darlings--which collapsed with the minining shares and he tends to buy and hold and ignore the bath water running away)

I'm not a gold bug but a gold miner bug, specifically FSU region. The two have only limited crossover. A lot of the goldbug projections and assumptions are positively disastrous for miners.

I hold HUM also, because it is undervalued, imo.

There's a few errors in your potted history on CGH but can discuss over on the CGH BB if you want.

But stock prices have already risen dramatically this week so above data is probably already out of date.

Miners being discounted to NAV is very common.

Chaarat Gold bought a producing mine from Polymetal for a fraction of the NAV - purchase price was $50m, NAV is ~$125m

Up 10% on a good day for gold and the UK market. Makes sense to me, but the spread is theft.

If the maths is right this is one of the cheapest producing gold mines on a NAV basis and the hot money was shaken out by Crispen selling a shed load of shares and reducing his holding....if there is a cheaper one on a nav basis that is producing would be keen to know
