I don't understand ftse 100 share price movements. One day it's "banks are in favour'. Another day it's 'house builders are all down today' and this is often not news flow driven. So who decides what sector is going to be favoured for any particular day?

HSBC still has to say where it is going to base its H/Q and when it does then that would be a good time to tell the world how its global business will be run.

In the meantime you can expect it to talk to its big shareholders to sound out what they think............

The main conclusions of the article (which can only really be seen by registered users - or buyers of the paper) is that the institutions behind the revolt may well be angling for Gulliver's replacement with an "outsider" as well as a move to Hong Kong where financial shares are more highly rated.
