01/2/2017 13:17 | ANyone know why it zipped up to 222 then back down again? Trump's comments on Euro strength? But HSW takes euros, dollars, pounds which should cancel each other out, right? | runthejoules
25/1/2017 14:56 | Seller at 204 taken out this morning, quiet board and up on volume is good. LONDON (Alliance News) - Analysts were pleased with Hostelworld Group's trading update after the online hostel booking platform said its full-year results will be in line with the board's expectations, following a challenging year. The company said it delivered 21% growth in bookings in its flagship Hostelworld brand in the second half of 2016, resulting in 18% growth in the year on the whole. Including the smaller Hostelbookers and Hostels.com brands, overall bookings rose by 2% in the second half, but fell by 1% in the full year. "The return to group-level volume growth in H2 is the stand-out highlight from Hostelworld's trading statement. In what was a difficult year for the travel space at large, we think this development will be well-received by the market," said Davy analyst Ross Harvey. In May 2016, the company said trading in the second quarter of 2016 has been below its expectations following "recent geopolitical events" in Europe. Harvey said the challenging 2016 meant the group's share de-rated to 10.6 times forward price-earnings, which he believes is overdone, considering the good momentum going into 2017. Numis analyst Wyn Ellis believes Hostelworld managed to negotiate a tricky year well, with cashflow still strong and a solid balance sheet. Numis maintained its Buy rating and 300.00 pence price target. Davy has an Outperform rating. Both Numis and Davy act as brokers to the company. | shoee62

23/6/2016 12:20 | I was tempted into this share but this one chart scares me slightly: hxxp://www.alexa.com hxxp://www.alexa.com What these shows is that web traffic to both websites is significantly down from this time last yet. | jimmywilson612
22/6/2016 09:10 | An interesting view on Hostelworld, a decent dividend 7% could come next year, I think stock reaction is overdone hxxp://seekingalpha. | padelicious
11/6/2016 09:31 | Never easy to time your 'in' on a falling stock. Easy to be proven wrong with a further fall and what appears cheap can always be cheaper. My worry with these is the softness in Europe could continue all summer as I don't see the Americans rushing to go backpacking round Europe in the current climate. Plus we are one terror attack away from further impact on the shares! (A big question for travel companies is is this a new 'normal' environment we're in now or is it truly an 'exceptional'?) I've looked at the business in detail previously and it's a great company - they have a monopoly on hostel travel and the way their booking system links / is integrated with the hostel makes it a good defensive play (no bad debt, so cash generative, #1 market leader etc). I can see them dominating this space for a long time. I've also used both of the websites as a customer (a number of years back) and see the value of the proposition. In my mind, the question is more around the market and short-term growth which is a lot more difficult to predict and uncertain. Will wait a bit longer before taking a position. | twistednik
10/6/2016 20:31 | Yes that's seems wise, I've learnt my lessons on topping up to average down on losers. Glad I took the small loss on these. | battlebus2
10/6/2016 19:41 | Looks like I got in a bit early. Agreed - looks even more interesting. Not inclined to double-up on a losing position though. | topvest
10/6/2016 16:46 | Hmm dropped to a more reasonable level now. Could be worth dipping ones toe but a bit nervous about another profit warning so could be a bit early ... | twistednik
03/6/2016 13:51 | Good luck topvest, fall seems way overdone imv. | battlebus2
01/6/2016 09:56 | Token director purchases (in the context of how much they trousered at float). Another Woodford flop like UTW that will gradually drift down | mammyoko
31/5/2016 09:02 | Director buy and Woodford..... | battlebus2
29/5/2016 20:52 | HW has a dominant position in a stable and growing market. As per previous emails, I thought market value was wrong and a long way above float price. At this price, I will have another look. Not sure AirBNB will radically change hostel market. Also, don't agree with PE vs public market characterisation. No one is complaining about PE on Fevertree board (c. 4x above float price by PE). That said, if warning came after sale of locked in equity, it does not look great. Did management sell any of their locked up equity? | mtioc
26/5/2016 17:41 | private equity | mammyoko |
